reason?

This is how modern lithium batteries work. It doesn't like extremes (over-charged or over-discharged). Don't wait until it's 0 or below 10%, charge or top-up when you have the chance.

Don't just take my words for it. Read it here (or search for more articles):

Guys, especially those using iPhone 6. How's the battery life? I'm not really a heavy user but my WeChat, WhatsApp and Facebook must be left running in background. Besides, I also surf net and stream some short Facebook or YouTube videos.

Roughly how long can your battery last with how long usage? unsure.gif

*
Now my iPhone 6 battery is at 53% (mostly on 3G)
Usage: 5 Hours 5 Minutes
Standby: 1 Day, 3 Hours

Moderate use (Facebook, WeChat, LINE, Whatsapp, browsing and other tasks)

With the same usage pattern on iPhone 5, I typically get about 3.5 hours usage at 50% battery.

Very nice. thumbup.gif
Not too bad actually.

Oops, this "With the same usage pattern, I typically get about 3.5 hours usage at 50% battery." on my previous post refers to my iPhone 5.

Yup, as long it's better than my iPhone 5, I'm happy with it biggrin.gif

Other info for my iPhone 6:
Background App Refresh OFF
Location Services ON

So, for my iPhone 6, about 5 hours usage at 50% battery.

Sorry what does it mean by Background App Refresh OFF? Will I still receive those messages from instant messaging apps when my phone is idle? unsure.gif
My only iOS device is the iPad Mini Retina LTE which I don't bother about the battery usage. laugh.gif
*
"Background App Refresh" is to enable apps to refresh/update contents when it is in the background (not in use).

It's not related to notifications... if your Notifications setting is ON, you'll receive all your notifications (even if your messaging apps are not loaded).

QUOTE(Source96 @ Nov 18 2014, 12:44 AM)
Guys and girls currently I'm in a dilemma whether to get a 6 or a plus for my birthday present which falls on 3/12. I'm rather exposed to big phones as I have personally used a LG G3 For a week and played my friends note 3 and mi3. Right now I'm using a nexus 4 and I'm pretty bored with android no matter it is lollipop or what and this will be my first iPhone ever, well not a new iOS user though as I have iPad.im afraid that I will regret if I get the 6 and not the big one. And my current nexus 4 compared to the 6 is merely an upgrade in terms of size and screen resolution haha. Besides, is 16gb really enough for running iOS? Surprisingly 16gb on my nexus 4 holds up pretty well with 3-4gb free now. Actually I was waiting for the nexus 6 but somehow I kinda like the aluminum body of iPhone and decided for a change of flavor.
*
My 2 year old iPhone 5 16GB now still has 7GB free (on iOS 8.1 and most apps updated for iOS 8.1).

16GB will be enough if you don't download lots of HUGE games and movies. I have about 70 apps (the common ones like FB, messaging apps etc... and some casual games) and I transfer my camera pics and videos to the computer often.

I got the iPhone 6 64GB last week, just for the peace of mind biggrin.gif

motion calibration? WiFi networking?

It's under "Location Services". Pretty safe to turn them off, not sure about Cell Network Search though.

So anyone notice any difference for iPhone? Maybe good news for those having 16GB?

Can't comment on iPhone 6 as I have yet to get my hands on one, but it's true for my iPad Air, although the savings is just about 0.3GB.

Here's the screenshot for 8.1: -

[attachmentid=4223028]

And here it is after I updated to 8.1.1

[attachmentid=4223029]

Anyone with an iPhone 6 noticed if it also applies to the iPhone?
*
Used space decreased by 0.3GB, but your Available Space increased by 0.7GB? smile.gif

I have already updated my iPhone 6 yesterday before I saw the iMore article, so I did not check the before/after space. But the user comments on that site seems to indicate it applies to iPhones too.

I just looked in Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & Usage and saw a crash titled: LatestCrash tinynote.ips

Happened after updating to iOS 8.1.1 yesterday. But I didn't notice any crash and I don't have any app called TinyNote. Anyone checked and see any crash reports on their set?

Got my iPhone 6 for 2 days now. Really enjoying it. Thought I wouldn't like the bigger screen but the thinness seems to compensate for it.

Any essential app recommendation, new to iOS? I only have spotify, whatsapp, FB, twitter, insta and VSCO and waze.

Am a productivity focused user.

I second Things. Do get it while it's free. Even when it's not on sale it's still worth every penny if you're a into light GTD that sort of thing.

And here's my list:

1. Evernote
2. Dropbox
3. Monument Valley (beautifully crafted puzzle game)
4. Mailbox
5. Unread (RSS client)
*
THINGS is good but I'm still using CLEAR... I love simple and gesture driven apps biggrin.gif

Monument Valley was free for Android for a day, few days ago. Wonder if there will be a promotion for iOS rolleyes.gif

When I asked my wife when was the last time she charged her iPhone, she said it was the day before yesterday. Disbelief, I grab her iPhone and check the usage record. It's been on a single charge for more than two and a half day! Hers is iPhone 6...not the iPhone 6 Plus!
*
I'm using iPhone 6 too but I don't let my battery discharge until this low. So I checked at 50% battery and the usage is about 5 hours (on both iOS 8.1 and 8.1.1). So, yea, I think this battery life/usage is pretty much standard for me (moderate usage with messenger apps, browsing, calls, FB, Instagram etc). I'm on 3G all the time too.

Yes, iPhone 6 64GB.

After formatting, it will be smaller than 64GB. Then it's partitioned to root partition (not seen by users, used by iOS) and media partition. Also 64GB and 128GB come with a few LARGE apps like iMovie, GarageBand, Pages, Numbers, Keynote etc (which you can delete if you don't need them).

For those ex-Android users who were using phones with LED notification, how do you get used to your iPhone as it doesn't have LED notification? unsure.gif

Have to keep checking your phones? unsure.gif

I came from BlackBerry then Samsung phones which have that LED...
*
I had Samsung and Sony before. So, with iPhone, just check the phone if I was away from it for a while.
