does anyone know where in malaysia can do smtg like this? changing the color for the iphone. biggrin.gifD

Colorware.com can do also. They charge a $250 something base price. Depends on what kind of paint. You can change color of almost anything on the iPhone. They also do other products like iPads, Beats, even Dyson fans LOL.

Thanks for the comments guys... I do change phone like every year. hmm.gif
Let me reconsider again. laugh.gif
I haven't bought mine but so far tried both models in Machines, somehow my heart leans to iPhone 6. tongue.gif
Anyway, I might buy an iPhone 6+ eventually. laugh.gif
*
i originally got a 6. it was good, but then i switched to 6 plus- although it's a tiny bit too big, i love it. battery life is amazing. and i love the pics I take. OIS does help, and it's noticeable to me.

besides if you get 6 plus, and you don't like it, there will always be someone wanting to buy it from you, since 6 plus is very rare now.

iOS 8.1.1 is out. Those who don't jailbreak go update now.

Performance improvements for iPad 2 and iPhone 4s is the main feature so people with those devices should take notice.

does anyone know what some of these settings do? should I just turn most of them off I wonder.

motion calibration? WiFi networking?
*
I leave all of them on. They don't affect battery life anyway From what I've noticed. And they actually are useful in providing precise location data.

Motion calibration means your iPhone will use GPS to aid the motion sensors in tracking how far or fast you're traveling.

Wi-Fi networking: your iPhone will use GPS to assign a location to every Wi-Fi network. This is then uploaded into an international database. It's how and why the "turn on Wi-Fi for more accurate location" works.

The rest is pretty much self explanatory—unless you're not sure of anything else on that list?

Probably because usually people use their phones more after an update to discover what's new?

Anyway, anyone else have problem using AirDrop with their Mac and iPhone 6 ? It used to work fine. I don't know if it is iOS or OS X problem because my Mac or iPhone can’t seem to detect each other anymore even if I set both to everyone.
*
no problems with my setup. MacBook Pro (mid 2012, 13 inch) on OS X 10.10.1 and iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1. I had trouble with an iPhone 6 (or 5s, not sure) not recognised before but that was when my MacBook Pro ran 10.10.0. just the other day i sent a pic from my iPhone to my Mac, both discovered each other within 5 seconds. (my Mac earlier than my iPhone)

QUOTE(slickz @ Nov 21 2014, 03:38 PM)
I get why we put cases on the iphone , so we sacrifice a little time molesting the naked chassis of the phone during our day to day use.
I do draw the line however, at sacrificing usability and even going so far as to enable an ugly accessibility button that obscures our view of the graphical user interface just so we don't "wear down" the phone's home button too much. Who's the master here? The phone, or us as the consumer?
*
my iPhone is naked. so nice to experience. had a ballistic glass screen protector, but it broke when i tried to reapply it after a week. naked iPhone since then. might get the Apple leather case in navy for my birthday though.

The location-based alerts, and wifi-networking in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Service keep on running, does  this normal to you guys ?
*
yeah my 6 plus has all of those option active. didn't affect my battery life also. still got like normal length. now i JB so i can't really though. (for some reason the usage indicator always show the —)

QUOTE(heliora10 @ Nov 22 2014, 08:34 AM)
but why? thought nowadays the chargers will just stop charging once reach 100%?
*
if I recall correctly yes. the phone communicates with the charger how much power to draw, and once battery is fully charged the phone only takes exact power it requires.

Yes, MLC

Toshiba and Hynix are running on MLC

Only Sandisk is running on TLC

128GB having dual 64GB, this is the one causing boot loop issues.

Single TLC is ok

nope. my 6+ 128GB is toshiba tlc chip. no problems so far. (it's approaching one month old already)

anyone here managed to airdrop to their Mac from their iPhone?
*
I can AirDrop from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro just fine, but not the other way round.

Both detect each other ok, but where the iPhone manages to send the file ok the Mac gets stuck on sending stage.

If I recall correctly this happened during the Yosemite betas too with iOS 8.0. I was on iPhone 6 and 5s that time.

P.S. I'm very annoyed at Safari right now. It keeps crashing whenever I try to type something after iOS suggests a keyboard shortcut. Thing is, it doesn't happen most of the time but I can recognise a pattern when it does.

And it only happens in Safari, and only inside forum text boxes. Tried with this site and with Apple Insider and managed to reproduce it. So it's either a Safari bug or crappy coding in the site's HTML or whatever.

I'm posting this from safari on my iPhone 6 with most words from word suggestions.
*
Do you type by tapping on the suggested words? I don't really do that. I think my issue with the autocorrect and how it works with keyboard shortcuts. The autocorrect can't seem to suggest corrections and crashes Safari if the the suggested item is actually from a keyboard shortcut. IDK how else to explain it. I just know there seems to be a recognisable pattern.

Hi, would like to check if anyone encounter this, when i plug in the earphone to my ip6+, the right side doesn't have any sound, but only the left side got sound.
I have tested the earphone, and it's working fine in other phone.
Can I claim warranty for this? I purchase this from Apple online
*
First navigate to Settings > General > Accessibility. Scroll down to Hearing section. Make sure the slider is in the middle. Not all the way left or right (which would mean your sounds is not balanced).

Secondly have you tried other headphones or speakers with your iPhone? Do they work in stereo? They should IMO. I've had troublesome headphones like this before but not with the EarPods that came with the iPhone.

Thirdly make sure the headphone is inserted properly. Push the input into the jack firmly until you hear a soft click. The iPhone 6/+ jack is slightly looser than previous generations.

Usually when it's something like this it's not the iPhone hardware's fault. If all above don't work try a restore via iTunes and set up as new. If still don't work then call Apple and have them arrange for replacement. They will send a replacement unit and you hand in your current iPhone to the guy who delivered your replacement unit.

hey guys. how do i set my time zone in icloud to malaysia? there seems to be no option for malaysia in the mini map.
*
time zone is by city, not country. so you'd have to type Kuala Lumpur, not Malaysia. go to www.iCloud.com/#settings on a computer. click settings, then click time zone. after you choose Kuala Lumpur, it should say there Malaya Time.

hmm. the old icloud website allowed me to type. on the new site, the closest i could select was Singapore time. but trying to get that also very tricky- theres one tiny specific area for you to click.

It's probably because of the weak LTE signal.

Ok sifus, need ur insight on icloud photo library

I understand that "device specific" resolutions of the photos are being stored on my iPhone - but what happens if I want to export the photo (or import into) a 3rd party app like snapseed or some other photo editing app. Will I get the full resolution image exported? Is there any way to get the original exported?

Anyone know how to test this? or know the answer?
*
You can tap on the picture in Photos to focus on it full-screen and iOS will download the full size version. Then use your preferred app to edit. On apps that haven't been updated to use iOS 8 Photos API, directly opening the photo from the app means you're editing the optimised version and not full resolution.

However, on apps that use the updated iOS 8 Photos API can directly access the photos to edit in full size. When in that updated app, tapping on a photo will cause iOS to download the full resolution before allowing the app to open/edit it. Usually these apps can be launched from within the Edit Photo interface inside Photos.app.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Dec 8 2014, 11:15 AM)
I read somewhere that ITunes will quietly delete "unauthorized" songs on your phone once found. Do google and read about it.
*
I think you're talking about iPod with iTunes, not iPhone. From what I read, that quietly-delete "issue" is false.

Story is this: There was another music manager program (RealPlayer) that synced protected files (songs with RealPlayer DRM) to the iPod, which was technically illegal at the time. Apple kept updating iTunes to prevent this (they were pressured to do so by the music industry), and when iTunes detects this it requires the iPod to restore which deleted ALL music, not just the protected files. After the restore, the songs with RealPlayer DRM was gone and only songs with iTunes DRM (and DRM-free music) were on the iPod.

RealPlayer then complained Apple was being anti-competitive by only allowing their own protected files (songs with iTunes DRM) and not others. Then they tried to take Apple to court. However, the issue is no longer relevant since Apple has removed all protection systems from their music and now only sells DRM-free music.

P.S. This issue only affected those who attempted to use their iPods with RealPlayer software. Those who only used iTunes to purchase music or to manage their DRM-free songs weren't affected. (In fact, iTunes Store was only launched a few months after the iPod. Before that users had to manually add their MP3s and such to iTunes to sync their music.

i use a 6 plus on iOS 8.1.1, no problems here. are you trying to hotspot over Wi-Fi, bluetooth, or USB? or are you trying to use the continuity hotspot feature?
