Hi,

Any idea the Maxis Thomson Router configuration doesn't come with BRIDGE HSI(GPON) service name? Mine one only HSI(GPON) + VOIP or HSI(GPON) + Public + VOIP.
*
Mind to know what is your BTU?
I might need your helps to set up the VOIP in the BTU.

If you know what's doing on the above settings, there would no longer needed to have your Maxis Thomson connected.
I just use it to bridge as a VOIP service, and not a WiFi Access Point & WAN dialer (Internet Login).

In case you do not need the VOIP service, you are good to go.

The settings above just shows in 2 parts.
1st: Setup TP-LINK C7 as a WAN Dialer(Internet Login) & WiFi Access Point.
2nd: Disable Maxis Thomson WAN Dialer(Internet Login) & WiFi.

That's all.
(*I think setting UniFi VTAG is the same way too*)

Be reminded, flashing the OpenWRT will sacrifice your AC WiFi, as the AC WiFi is not an Open Source development, the AC WiFi driver in OpenWRT is a reverse-engineered driver to work on.
You never get a good speed of this 3rd party developed driver. So there is useless AC WiFi in OpenWRT.

Of course, you can get more function by using OpenWRT such as VPN, etc....

LuCi is the official UI released with OpenWRT, might you can try Gargoyle that might much more comprehensive & easier configurable UI.

At last, I'm requiring your help of the settings if you are using HG850a BTU. Thank you.

Great details for the recommendation! I was trying your method without actually flashing my Archer C7 firmware as I'm already on 3.14.3 Build 150520 Rel.53345n. However, can you just please help to answer some really noob questions for me?
- I suppose both the Archer C7 and the Maxis Thomson Router has to be on the same subnet, say 192.168.1.x for this to work?
- My Maxis Thomson Router also doesn't have the BRIDGE HSI(GPON) + VoIP service, it has HOME HSI(GPON) + VoIP and HSI(GPON) + VoIP, which one should I use?

QUOTE(WLFung @ Jun 20 2015, 02:58 PM)
I had successfully setup my TP-LINK Archer C7 v2 to connect Maxis Home Fibre by using OpenWRT Chaos Calmer 15.05-rc1 (now rc2 released) firmware.

The TP-LINK official firmware is lousy.

First of all you need to flash OpenWRT firmware.
http://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos_calmer/...hfs-factory.bin
Step 1: Flashing the firmware.
You shoud have this. (picture from TP-Link site)
user posted image
Just browse to the OpenWRT firmware file you downloaded just now.
Then upgrade, you should good to go.
Step 2: Login to OpenWRT. Initially is 192.168.1.1 (no password for 1st time until you set it after that)
[attachmentid=4494079]
Step 3: Goto "Network" -> "Switch"
[attachmentid=4494080]
Step 4: Setting the VLAN ID
Port1 = WAN Port
Port2~5 = LAN Port 1~4
Port6 = WAN for IPv6
[attachmentid=4494083]
Should look like this.
"Tagged" Internet VLAN 621 on Port1&6
"Tagged" VOIP VLAN 821 & 822 on Port(2)or(3)or(4)or(5) depend which Archer C7 LAN port connect to your Maxis Router(Technicolor TG784n v3) and Port6(must)
"Tagged" IPTV Astro VLAN 823 on Port(2)or(3)or(4)or(5) and Port6  if you need the IPTV service
Save & Apply

Step 5: Goto "Network" -> "Interface"
[attachmentid=4493954]
Step 6: Setup your WAN, "WAN" -> Edit
[attachmentid=4493962]

{General Settings}
Login info should be like this.
UserID@home.maxis.com.my (if you do not change to public)
UserID@public.maxis.com.my (if you change to public)
Password: UserID+1
[attachmentid=4493974]

{Physical Settings}
Select the VLAN Interface: "eth0.621" (wan)
[attachmentid=4493979]
Save & Apply
It is ready to connect your Maxis Home Fibre.
I would skip the WiFi setup, I think you all should know how to do.
But kindly inform, you can only stable in WiFi-bgn 2.4Ghz since the 5Ghz AC WiFi LINUX mod-driver in OpenWRT not quite compatible, though it is working, but it would only show up 6mbit/s in bitrate, speed performance I didn't test. Sometimes it may confuse the 2.5Ghz WiFi. so it is good to disable the 5Ghz AC WiFi if you are not using.
Then Below is setting up the Maxis Thomson Technicolor TG784n v3 Router.
Connect with your PC LAN cable to Maxis rounter LAN port (or Maxis WiFi should do so).

Login to Maxis Thomson Technicolor TG784n v3 Router.
http://192.168.1.254

Step 1: Click on "Advance Configuration"
[attachmentid=4493992]
Step 2:
"Maxis Gateway" -> Setup my Maxis Gateway
[attachmentid=4493995]
Next
[attachmentid=4493996]
Use the "Bridged HSI(GPON) + VOIP" rather than "Home HSI(GPON) + VOIP"
[attachmentid=4494002]
Then Next
Use "TM" if you are under TM infrastructure or else Maxis if you are Maxis Infrastructure
[attachmentid=4494003]
Then Next
Enter your VOIP phone number in URI & username. eg: 0312345678
password:  phonenumber+1
[attachmentid=4494004]
Then Next
Then "Start"
[attachmentid=4494006]
It would restart your Maxis Router.
[attachmentid=4494007]
Then Finish
[attachmentid=4494010]
Step 3: Disable Maxis WiFi
You do not need the Maxis WiFi anymore.
[attachmentid=4494031]
When you click "Disable", it may sometimes not working.

Goto "Advance Configuration" -> "Home Network"
Click on the WiFi.
[attachmentid=4494032]

Then {Configure}
[attachmentid=4494033]

Untick all these box.
[attachmentid=4494040]
It is all done now.
But be reminded, if you restart Maxis Router anytime, its WiFi will automatically active back. So you need to disable it again.
The LAN Cable on Maxis Router WAN port connect to TP-LINK LAN(?) port which the port set VLAN 821/822 for VOIP.

Arrangement like this
[attachmentid=4494077]
Now your Maxis Router become a just VOIP phone unit, no WiFi and other use.

If your VOIP works, your Maxis Telephony should be like this, it is registered.
"Toolbox" -> "Telephony" -> "Detail"
[attachmentid=4494051]

If not, try re-configure the Telephony.
-> "Configure"
[attachmentid=4494054]

[attachmentid=4494066]
If you still cannot make the Telephony Registered, it means you need to call up Maxis Service Centre. They need to reset your Telephony password, which sometimes Maxis himself will ruin their server settings.
Hope this helpful and good to go.
TP-LINK Archer C7 v2 won't brick, once you spoiled, just connect your LAN cable to LAN port1 and set your PC IP 192.168.1.66, use a TFTP software (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tftp-server/) download and install, put the firmware file under the software folder in ArcherC7v2_tp_recovery.bin filename, then it would re-upload the firmware.
Both TP-LINK official and OpenWRT firmwares will work.
By the end, we all know Maxis Router is a crap, you can replace it with other VOIP Adapter.
Of course the adapter settings would dependent . You just need the SIP phone number, username & password, that's all.
[attachmentid=4494114]

I seem to be having the same problem with you. After I've connected from Archer C7 LAN port (for VoIP) (originally on 192.168.0.1) to the Maxis Thomson Router's WAN port (192.168.1.254), I was able to disable the Thomson WiFi, disconnect the eInternet connection, check the telephony settings. But the VoIP wasn't working and I disconnected from the Maxis Thomson router, now I cannot connect to it anymore on 192.168.1.254....

It means you should npt tag the Lan port with Vlan 821. Just select untag.

Oh really? @WLFung was suggesting to tag the ports to be used for VoIP with 821/822 on the Archer C7. Anyway, I will give it a try later, thanks smile.gif

Apparently I am not allowed to leave the vlan id field blank, unless I flash it with an OpenWRT firmware blink.gif

There is no "Bridged HSI(GPON) + VOIP" option under the list of services in my model/version of Maxis Thomson router.

My Archer C7 is defaulted to 192.168.0.1. Can someone advise if I need to change the IP of the Maxis Thomson router or disable its DHCP for the bridged VOIP to work?

I also couldnt find Bridged HSI(GPON) + VOIP. I think maybe his Maxis gateway is older.

I think I kinda understand what you are doing, as I was thinking to do something similar as well.

Original idea: Connect the TM ONU to my Archer C7 as the main router for WiFi/internet access. Then bridge from Archer C7 to Maxis Thomson to use the Maxis VoIP... no success so far.

Alternative: Connect the TM ONU to Maxis Thomson as the main wired router for internet access as well as VoIP. Connect Maxis Thomson to Archer C7 and use the Archer C7 as an AP for WiFi.

Will try it out to see.... fingers crossed.
