I've been graduated for two years and started to work for this IT company for two years.....My bosses treat me quite ok and the working environment is not bad either...However I feel myself didn't progress and improve much compare to the days where i came in....Furthermore, my salary hasn't reach 2k also and i have quite some commitments like house loan and insurance, i'm feeling very stressful.....

Anyone can give me suggestion what should i do....Should i start finding a new job or continue anyway? FYI, I am a programmer and i did feel that i'm underpaid...

Hi, from my point of view, you should get a new job eventually. So why not start now? Working environment is good, but that would not make up to the commitment that you have engaged on.

With your 2 years experienc, i believe you would get a better pay job outside, but cant say much about the working environment.

Good luck and all the best...

I want to know if it is easy to find a job as java programmer...

Last time when i tried to find job on java...all applied but no response back from those companies....Many of them need knowledge like J2EE stuff and web stuff which i not yet learnt...Some companies even stated that u need how many years of experience in order to apply...Wonder the two years experience counts if i change from one language to another...

sure the 2 years exp counts no matter what language you change.
its more to working experiences, unless they want particular 2 years on certain language, which i dont think so.

a person was hired not only for his soft skills, but also the hard skills. try repackage urself and go for the interview smile.gif

It is actually, turn over for IT staff is very high. Lots of job openings now in Klang Valley for programmers, although a warning though, most of these are in local companies and more often then not the working hours for a programmer is on average 10-12 hours a day.

Those 2 years doesnt really count if you switched language from one to another, i.e. if you were trained in .Net over the past 2 years, most companies will most likely wont consider that when hiring a J2EE developer, but it should at least show you have experience in the fundamentals like OO and such.

Another thing, dont always expect to learn only from your job, this is especially true for a programmer. You have to take the initiative to train up by yourself. So even if in your current or future company there's not much new things to learn you shouldnt let that stop your progress, learn by yourself.

One thing I am so curious about, you have been graduated for two years, so I assumed you are still between the age of 25-27. Anyway, that means you have purchased a house but yet your salary has not reach 2k. If you said that it was your own house, then I will be wondering why the bank granted you the mortgage loan. If it was your family members house, then I will have to say your money will be really insufficient if the condition persists.

Perhaps you could outline your financial condition so that others can help.

IMHO, you should talk to your boss if you still have the intention to continue work with him since you mention your boss treat you quite good, otherwise start looking for others job. BTW i really respect you, with under 2k you still can survive and afford to having some commitments for past 2 years notworthy.gif

Go get a new job, you earn less than 2k working for 2 years. That's under paid, try to move on, go get a new job and improve your skills. If you still remain in the same company, u have no value to sell to others to hire you. If you think that u have not much to learn, jump to others, job hopping isnt bad but is about adding value.

Worked for 2 years and still under 2K salary for a Java programmer. This is consider under paid. Even a fresh graduate at KL if lucky enough can get 2K. You can try to find job at KL. As i know lot of company is looking for Java programmer.
