Bro, now UOB no longer provide AF waiver......

Mine cant waived at all....

I am not surprise. I have mentioned many times in this thread. Regardless of spending amount, they just won't waive If they don't want. It is the truth.

im using one platinum..1st year annual fee auto waive right? i never check statement before just pay only.now 2nd year..if kena fee and cannot waive then mau tukar.

To be honest, the UOB bank even wrote me an email stating that they are not able to waive the annual fee due to bank policy. For those who are able to waive, congra to you guys. For those haven't waive, be careful . Yes. The bank is right. There is no term and condition stating that AF is waivable. It is only us who are hoping it can be waive as some of us here successful to waive. Once they charge you and refuse to waive, there is no return.

For my scenario, the bank refuse to waive for me last year. After bargaining , they waive me half. (It is time consuming to call here and there!!!). This year I called again before AF charged. they say can't waive again, I cancel it. There is no phone call from retention department. They cancelled immediately. I am sure a lot of people is facing the same scenario as me. Only they are not active in this forum.
There is no term stating the amount spending required to waive AF. I can tell you, My spending on the card is a lot.

Preferred Platinum looks ok ah.. services car can get 3x point too. not bad la...

How frequent you service your car? Every week ? And how much is your services fees each time? I don't think it is a good card. They just pick something we seldom spend on it and give 3x. This is the trick!

As for my understanding, u can cancel ur card even after annual fee charge to ur acc as long as u didn't use the card after they charge u the AF. They can cancel n reverse the charges to close ur acc.
*
How are you going to ensure there is no spending on the card after the AF charged? Unless the last 2 month you don't spend on the card and quietly wait for the AF shown on the payment page. If this is the case, it means the card is not essential to you as you can stop spending for months. Most of us might just has pending after the AF charged. When we noticed it was charge, we can't do anything as there is spending after the AF except you call to beg them.

I monitor every cards closely n I know when is the AF going to charge. I hold different cards for different usage.
You can always call CS to check your card anniversary date. Just make a little more effort to record it down. N again, most bank will reverse the charges if you cancel the card even u use the card after AF charged. But for guarantee purpose, I will not use the card if AF charged. CS confirmation on coming AF charge fee is an argument point for them to reverse the AF if you cancel the card. That's y it is important to jot down the CS name, date n time of your call.

Good info! Thanks!
Recently I called CS, they refuse to tell me the AF date. Any suggestion?

But, I called last month, they can give me the exact date. Some bank only able to tell month n not date. But I will check my last year statement on exact AF date too.
*
Yes.UOB refuse to tell me the exact date the AF charged. You keep all your bills monthly? I usually don't keep.

Just to share my opinion on uob reward program. For preferred platinum, we need 55,000 points to waive for AF which is really ridiculous. Maybank VS only need to spend 50,000 to waive the AF( don't need a single point and it is a higher level card)
Last year, when I redeem a product with points, when I go through the catalogs , what make me surprise was the points needed to redeem a similar product is double compare to other bank ( I found the same product in other bank catalog with only half of the points needed). To be more straight forward, the 2 banks that I noticed was Cimb bank and alliance bank. I am sure other bank will have good rewards program also as at that moment I just randomly open 2 banks catalog.
This is my two cents on uob

Its Singapore UOB version.
Like it advertisement,  still the best way to earn miles.
1.4 miles for every SGD1 local spending
2.4 miles for every SGD1 overseas spending
3 miles for SIA spending

not sure how is the conversion for Malaysia version.
*
Better than maybank premier card for air mile conversion? The advertisement says the best air miles in Malaysia .. Just curious.
