There are many windscreen repair shops outside. Don't drive in first, you walk in and ask the price. Fit at windscreen repair shops cost much cheaper plus some of them have more hands on experience than SC. Look for good one, it is fine.

As long as non-mechanical and non-electrical/electronic part, especially front windscreen is fine to send to these outside shops. If it's the side mirror that requires to remove the door panels, disconnect/re-connect the wiring and power window switch, then go to UMW SC better to prevent trouble.

If got insurance, sure go to UMW SC.

Man...i was suffer to get the car registration card from RHB bank, they asked to fax in the request and then need to file the case from service center, then only it can send to RHB bank which is close to my area, and it required 7 working days sad.gif

UMW charge about 2k for Altis windscreen, my insurance only cover 1.5k, don't mind to pay few hundred more, but is the quality same? and can outside shop handle my case without the registration card? UMW also required 2 working days to settle the windscreen change sad.gif

anyone have such experience to claim via outside shop? thanks in advance !

I read some article where the outside shop will use low grade glue to re attached the screen. In the event of accident, your wind screen will fly off from your car. There is thread about this last time.

For you to claim insurance, you need a photocopy of your car registration (aka, GERAN).

To me, it makes no different claiming in UMW SC or outside so long as the windscreen work fine.

Fixing outside might be lower than RM1500, which is still within your sum insured. If you don't mind paying extra...just do it at UMW then.

It is really difficult to find a windscreen replacement workshop with proper procedure and good workmanship. So far I haven't found any, so repairing windscreen whenever possible instead.

This. Just did mine here few weeks ago. Behind Tawakal hospital.

Just call and ask them whether they have stock for your Altis. It just need less than 2hr to change your windscreen.

Bring along your tint receipt (and warranty) and insurance cover. You don't even need to pay a cent.

Either you let them tint the new windscreen... and then replace your old windscreen.

Or you replace your windscreen, and then after 3days+ go back to your favorite tint shop - just that I'm not sure how the insurance deal with this.

I have similar issue here, windscreen got crack from stone fell out from lorry
diameter of crack around 3 inches

Yesterday I went to my tint shop to ask them redo my front windscreen because got defect, they said because I got crack on windscreen they scared the tint removal process can make things worse (is it true?)

If i repair at dr cermin, can i safely remove the tint without breaking the glass? sweat.gif Car is wira year 2005, i believe the glass is double layer
I have windscreen insurance tho..but scared bad workmanship and possible of leaking

My windshield tint got refract some light in the middle...defect by tint shop during installation by them. Send my car to them yesterday for the tint warranty but they said it might break the glass/worsen the crack during the old tint removal process

Thanks for the suggestion. Do they use suitable urethane bond? Correct procedure would avoid the A-pillar from getting rust etc.

More importance, sturdiness of windshield play an important role during front passenger airbag deployment.
Do you notice the placement of SRS airbag at dashboard facing upward? hmm.gif
The windshield act as a solid deflector for controlling the deployment direction. nod.gif

Beware, SC most properly will outsource the job to outside specialist.

Hey guys,

I change it from Subang SC, they charged 1.9k for Altis model, so far s good, quite expensive but it was installed in SC itself, with 1 year warranty.

Hope this info could benefit to anyone who need it.

Oh right, just to mention no need to be worry about door to door service installation, their worker follow the SOP and sanitized before and after so definitely recommend to give it a try !
and their price is reasonable with good product and services.
