Hi folks, my old man's car meter seems dead, no backlights and needle not working. However those warning light like abs, handbrake, check engine is working. I checked the fuses and none is burnt. Any ideas? Or can recommend shop to check/fix?

maybe one of the wire tercabut. just go to shop and check...are you sure you checked the correct fuse?

Yeah, both fuses on the passenger side and engine bay was checked. Even went to an accessory shop and they found fuse is all ok.

Yesterday went to a tyre shop to use their diagnostic device, based on the code there is something wrong with the wiring and is unlikely the Speedo that is the issue. They guys say it is very very rare for Speedo to die, and if it spoiled, the whole Speedo would die, not even the engine warning lights will turn on.

Now the next step is to look for workshop that is knowledgeable and skilled in solving wiring and electricals. The tyre shop guy don't know how to open up the whole dashboard in order to access the wiring to check for me, and neither it is his specialty.

So got any recommendation?

So did you get it fixed? most likely the meter need to be replaced. there are a handful of cases that the meter goes off. only solution, replace whole meter. You may be able to find a half cut at NCS garage

Yeah, got fixed but at cutthroat price lor.

There's this ipdm module inside that was said to have spoiled and caused the Speedo to burn out too. So both the module and Speedo (2nd hand) was replaced. Wasn't quite knowledgeable so no choice but to stretch out neck to be slaughtered.
