i am having fun with my tamrom 90mm macro lens. i wish to go more than 1:1 magnification.. beside extension tube, may i know if raynox is practical? i know ppl normally buy raynox to use with kit lens or other non macro lens. if i put this raynox in front of my macro lens, wil i be getting more than 1:1 magnification?

Yes, putting a Raynox in front of your 90mm will easily give you beyond 1:1 magnification Using the Raynox will not result in loss of light too as oppose to Extension Tubes or Teleconverters. However, using a Raynox will significantly reduce your effective focal length- you can only shoot from a somewhat fixed distance, which may be too close for most people.. Would advice you to borrow from a friend and test it out before buying I have a Raynox 250 but I don't use it too often unless when shooting small Jumping Spiders. The DOF is abit too shallow since you must get very close. Can't really comment about other Raynox lenses, some say they are better (very expensive!) QUOTE(justified @ Nov 11 2014, 05:22 PM) thanks for the feedback. does it mean that with raynox, butterfly and other skittish bug shooting would become quite impossible right since u need to get in very close Yup, that is true For butterflies, usually we photograph them using just the macro lens since they are quite large. I would recommend going for Extension Tubes since u can still select how far/close and how magnified your shots are to be
