ekiddie: I think they are okay for water turtles. A colleague of mine has some in the same tub where she keeps her RES.
Update: Yup, Tortue is shedding big time. There is a huge patch of dead skin clinging onto his neck but still no signs of the brown patch on his shell going away. On top of that, the grooves on his shell have become deeper...need to ask, how do RES shed their schutes (sp)? |

UPM: Would suggest you speak to your neighbour about his dog's behaviour after you're done tending to your sulcatas.
It means the dog is not disciplined - today it may be someone's pet, another day it can be someone's kid - and usually that's the owner's fault. Tortoise still = money, tell your neighbour that if s/he is tidak apa about the whole thing. In the meantime, take your tortoise to the vet and next time, don't sunbath them without supervision. |

I have a question. If the shell looks dented in and/or curved inwards, is that a normal sign?

Okay...need to know what I'm not doing right.
Tortue's two schutes are showing signs of soft shell (I think) - like sayasebudak's RES. I have him on UVB bulb, feed him sera raffy 1 and reptomin pellets but I only feed him every two to three days. Should I do it daily? His D3 and calcium supplements are every three days as well. Forget about sunning coz of the haze - it's bad where I am at work. |

Uz: I go away oso he won't eat those pellets. He takes a sniff, turns up his nose and swims away. He'll only take Tetra Reptomin and Sera Raffy Baby Gran...plus the shrimps and gammarus mix.
I am gonna try and feed him daily to see if there's any change or not. Maybe get those turtle vit pellets too. :S |

Okies...he takes about two sticks each time, after that he goes jelak and don't want them anymore. He likes FD bloodworms though so I gave him some.
Btw, I'm thinking of changing my hanging filter (need something stronger). Any recommendations as to what's good AND cheap? |

Kena lovebite already from my bro's labi-labi. Heh.
Anyway, Tortue is munching down on more pellets today but he's a super messy eater when it comes to Nutrafin pellets (four sticks already)! How many does he need to eat at one go ar? Btw, I noticed that the schute right at Tortue's tail has split into two. Does that mean he's growing? This post has been edited by meiteoh: Oct 11 2006, 09:40 AM |

Uz: I think my Tortue is getting fat la. From the front he looks like he's going to outgrow his shell anytime soon!
(Btw, my water is a bit cloudy/hazy. Just tukar air semalam so I can't understand it. Will it be bad for Tortue?) Btw, here are some pics of Tortue (and how his schutes look like) - this was taken a few weeks back by my colleague before I bought the UVB bulb. Can you see the depression/dents in the schutes? ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by meiteoh: Oct 12 2006, 03:46 PM |

I wonder if Tortue will eat them (those are mealworms).
