QUOTE(LEVIATHAN @ Feb 20 2007, 12:04 AM)
just to add some updates today. now my quad res are more than 4in scl. 1 of them has developed a strong thick d***. his tail seems longer and bolder. wow. this fella can do real damage! his plastron now concaver than before. a natural preparation for a natural pleasure i supposebiggrin.gif

the female res now more hostile towards me. she just hate to be touched. she bites, and i ended with white, clamped skin and it turns to red in no time. and dang it hurts. she the only female, so b17chy -ness is good. jual mahal beb.

pellets need to supplied in larger quantity now. 8 months back, they cant even eat pellets. i fed them with tubifex worms. but now, they easily eat the pellets with 1 ngap. dang expensive pellets. hagen nutrafin and wardley's are their fav. plus meal worms, 2 times weekly.  wink.gif

just hope they are not mating now. im moving to setapak this april. so moving with some eggs are nightmare. that's all for now. ok! thanks!

LEVIATHAN

The res you are refering to is Red-eared Slider -Trachemys scripta elegans I presume

Even thou the male may/may not start showing interest towards female but I am 100 % that female at 4 inch - 6 inch will not lay eggs even if mated / not mated to

From what I know RES 's male only grow longer nails thicker longer tail and no concave plastron

Have you got another species or ???? I would love to see your RES's concave plastron
PLS do post their pics
THANKS in advance

dear SAMPERTH,
ya ya res is red eared slider. i pwn them 4. and oh that's good if the female wont produce any egg in near future. i love to have a pastel res. haha. but absolutely not now. im not ready. i dont have neither a basking lamp, nor sand for eggs. later later.

about concavity of the male res' plastron. maybe im wrong but the word concave means curving in or hollowed inward. and i do believe that plastron of a male res, do concave. and here is a link to confirm this. biggrin.gif i have pictor of them, but not the plastron. hehe.

My Star Tortoise is sick! icon_question.gif

I think it got flu? Or bitten by something?

- Nose is watery and comes bubble (could be flu)
- Always sleeping for 2 days without eating
- Eyes is always sleeping, watery
- Don't want to eat
- After opening eyes for few seconds, it goes back to sleep
- Sometimes it walks with eyes closed.

icon_question.gif any tort doctors advise? icon_question.gif

Watery Nose could also mean allegeric to small dust particles stuck in nose

But bubbles only mean flu - Runny Nose Syndrome (RNS)

Could be easy to treat if preventive measure like vitamin given regularly

High humidity in tropical monsoon season usually cause species from drier area have RNS

And the eye are they sunken or puffy and watery too ???

I need more information like where are the tortoise kept , in and on like in fish tank on saw dust as substrate or ????
If just allergic to dust particle easier to reticfied than if RNS caused by bacterial/fungal/viral infection

i kept my tort indoor in my kitchen on the floor beside a wall. it's in a basket covered with newspapers. it's not covered. i'm afraid it might be bitten by mosq sometimes. that's all

hivemy, you'll have to get a tank for your tort. Get a basking lamp as well if you don't have time to sunbath your tort. From what I see in the pics you posted, I assume you must have it for sometime already? The shell formation and underfed look plus the sickness is because it hasn't been getting enough sunlight and warmth. Btw would like to know what have you been feeding it?

maybe they are still trying to get use with their new home?

mine doesn't really want to eat at first. maybe because the food is too big (i bought them when they're babies), so i break the turtle stick into half so that they can eat.

right now, they're almost 10cm long. eating & eating. quite a worry if it grows bigger & bigger laugh.gif how big can a green turtle grows??
