will an action base hold the sazabi steadily over long period of time in floating stance?

I'm using action base 1 for Sinanju as AB2's much smaller base doesn't provide enough stability for larger 1/144 kits. If you extend it to the maximum height, the small base of the AB2 will make it very shaky.

If you're merely posing it in an upright pose AB2 should be OK for the Sazabi, but wilder, dynamic poses may very well be a problem.

Most action base pegs (both 1 and 2) are too shallow to support bigger kits hence you can't position them in wild poses unless you modify the connection points, e.g. blu tac/superglue them to thicken them.

Unless shelf space/cost is an issue, go for action base 1 instead of 2.

How are the shoulder/elbow/wrist joints holding up with the bigger rifle and massive shield?

The Dragon Momoko TG3 may end up being a better choice as it comes with the orange heated-up heat rod. Probably cheaper too since the original version is a P-Bandai exclusive. Meh.

Marasai looks so badass. Too bad its stock weapons look pathetic - puny rifle, flimsy Fayedeen, toy-like Sea serpent whip. doh.gif

I have nightmares regarding the 3.0 manipulators.. even without mentioning the terrible wrist, the fingers themselves always give me a feeling of dread when posing them, like i'm about to break something

Agreed. Flimsy and fragile. Crap manipulators.
MG Gundam ver2.0 has the best hands. Big, solid, boxing gloves.

Quick thoughts on the Zeta Plus. Took a while to find this kit... Out of stock since end of last year, but finally got it. Pardon the make shift hanger action base.
