Really interested where samsung is going with their wearables... Guess no point now in buying the gear 2 and samsung will be wise not to make gear 3 as there is no point , is like going backwards...

Still the major issue is only compatible with samsung phones... which is SAD as not everyone in the whole world uses only samsung in their life...

You still can use it even without a Samsung phone. Make it as a feature phone like what we have done for the past few weeks.  smile.gif

Right now there are no IM apps for Tizen. Its main purpose is to receive notifications, make/receive calls and sms.

I think Android Wear is also the same, only receiving notifications.

but since samsung add a sim card for this gear s , it seems to be able to go fully independant... and it has a full qwerty keyboard...
does it support 3g data usage? battery life wont survive long i guess

Yes it supports 3G up to H+.

It will last you at least 4 hours if you make some calls with 3G on all the time. If you use it as a GPS, max would be 2.5 to 3hrs.

You have to think of it as a featurephone from 5 years ago. Same limitations apply, and it is only a 300mah battery compared to 1000+ mah of those Nokias. You still had to charge it daily and watch your battery all the time.

If you use it as a watch and notifications device, it will last 6-10 hours on 3G, maybe 18-36 hours on bluetooth, even more with Power Saving mode.

i dont mind charging it frequently... just wan to hv as much use out of it even though i dont hv samsung phone anymore... i used to hv a gear 2 but regretted that hugely.....

yea better not then.... tizen is a good OS but app support is very bad for it because damn samsung limits only to their phones so why would app developers wanna build apps for a small minority gear S owners...

i keep switching phone brands but always stick to android and i think android wear is a very useless OS at the moment... its so limiting in what it can do....

Apple watch seems to be a fine middle ground between android wear and yet it has a speaker so you can talk using thee watch... But then again its only for apple product which i dont tend to go bck into....

nitemare as you imagine running full android on a 1.6 inch 'square' display .... if you wanna type the keyboard take up almost the whole screen ..... some apps dont even scale to the display .... good luck even typing on the screen that small and in the end you will just think that you hv a small screen phone...
Little to no software updates from the makers at all since launching... basically its a dead product on arrival... the ompany even moved on to more 'normal' watches ala notifications only type of watches...

plus it has one of the worst charging docks in wearable history.... god...

there are some good things , it runs spotify greatly but since battery life isnt that great you wont use that long anyways....

I guess it's never perfect till u get another galaxy phone.
curse u samsung...

yea better not ... samsung wearables are always gonna be pointless unless you hv a samsung phone..
i read an article about them wanting to open up tizen to connect to other android phones after the launch of gear 2... Clearly that has not or will happen in the near future....

I just hope the full android port can fully port over to gear s... I wanna buy this for fitness use. Do you think its a wise choice? As no need bring phone to jogging or cycling etc...

I know Gear s2 is around the corner but i have a feeling that it wont be as standalone as a device and is more expensive. No speaker is sad...

I don't mind the battery life because what to expect they crammed so many things into a relative small device.

My only concern is wearing it in public as it is quite big and people might stare at it weirdly lol...

I am just finding online see who is selling their gear s second hand. Found one in this forum but still no reply yet sad.gif
