Well, you need your phone to be connected, which is already a bummer. Oh you mean waving in a figure 8 manner?

You have to wave in a figure-8 manner in the air.

Hi all, Navigator standalone is now released. You can use the GPS WITHOUT the Gear S being tethered to your phone.

Yes it occurs if you are a sweaty person tongue.gif

It has happened to mine.

As such, if at all I get another smartwatch, I'll take magnetic wireless charging.

I grudgingly admit fapple got this correct, but also Moto360 got it right the first time.

Yeah I second that, wireless charging will be the future of smartwatches.

Hate it when I have to plug the charging port all the time...sometimes it wont charge.

Now I'm frustrated over the corroded charging port...which may die anytime soon.

And who the heck dont sweat.Phobia now whether to wear it or not.Clearly a samsung design flaw

So no smartwatch for me until there's wireless charging feature.

If you check out the current crop of smartwatches from all manufacturers, only Moto360 and that rotten fruit have wireless charging.

All the rest are using copper contacts.

Rotten fruit...lol

That's the other platform. See my sig.

Even when it is stainless, when you have current flowing you will have "electromigration" happening IINM.

Apart from the activation which you could activate without samsung phone, how about app update? Do you need Gear Manager to update app? I would like to use it fully standalone with a dedicated sim.

Thank you~

Well, after activation, you can use it completely standalone. Yes you do need a Samsung phone for the Gear Manager app to perform updates or other app installs.

Note however, the limitation of devices like the Gear S is its screen size. God forbid you want to draft an email reply on a 2" screen although you can do it if you really want to.

I think you need to rinse the back with running water daily.
