noticed the price is around 1000 now.
spec seems good enough for me.

my concern are since its released about 2 years already,
are the processor n camera technology consider too old
or not far behind current latest smartphone like honor 6 or padfone S?

Can say it's still decent but the battery life is poor to compete with modern smartphones. The camera quality is decent but it's showing it's age next year.

But why don't top up and get 1+1?

Last time when i use it, the performance is not as good after the update. Even though it has the same spec as HTC butterfly, I still prefer HTC because it is a bit faster and smoother and has a better S-LCD display compared to Sony's TFT. But Sony's camera is the strong point. Another Cons side of Sony is the water and dust resistant isn't as good as advertised. Some unit still got water get into the device despite the flaps has been properly closed. Also, the USB flaps tends to loosen out after long use, which happen to my last unit (which make it not water resistant anymore). Also, ppl reported that dust could easily penetrate the device itself.

Why still Z? Slightly top up a bit, you can get some AP sets like z1, z2 even. Unless you're talking about original then it's a different case. But then, you might regret as there are newer models with that price range up till now.

I have seen the Sony Xperia Z2 going for RM11XX on Lazada. Problem is you don't know if it's the real deal and what sort of warranty (if any) the seller is offering.

if it mentions (IMPORT), i most certainly it is AP set and 2 years warranty from dealer

Yes but it's not an AP seller that's more recognizable with actual shops you can bring the phone to for warranty. Googling the name didn't bring much result. For that price it's a tempting buy though.

My only peeve with Xperia Z is the washed out screen as otherwise it's still a very good phone. With the latest Android 4.4.4 update, everything is working smoothly and the camera is still excellent (the 13MP module is the same module you see in almost every other phone manufacturers). As for water resistance, I suggest getting the dock so you will not need to open the flap all the time to charge it and this will prevent it from getting loose.

If you like the interface of stock Android, you are looking at phones from either Motorola, Sony or HTC as the skin of other manufacturers look totally different (and ugly IMHO), especially Touchwiz and all the Chinese brands.
