Just got my LotV Beta access.

Add me up, Maximus#6195, I'll be playing for as long as my slow DSL allows. I could say that ping is manageable though, somewhere around 100 to 200ms.

Hit me up, I'm online now, just fixing my controls.

Edit:

Or you may add me up within LotV: MigraineBoy#850

My LotV experience so far:

- won my first 4 or 5 games, I think the people I played against also just got their Beta keys so they didn't play so well.
- lost every game since. And since my MMR is overstated, I've been playing against Diamonds or above. I've read that LotV unranked matchmaking still has a hidden MMR, and the system needs you to play a large amount (more than 50) of games before it is able to normalize.
- new units are amazing (Terran Liberators just melt Zerg so hard).
- I'm not particularly sold on the new economy introduced in LotV (but having 12 workers at the start is kinda nice). I've played the DH9 mod and, IMHO, that would be much better.
- wait time in between games is more than 10 minutes, especially during the afternoons
- lag is pretty manageable, I experience 100 to 200ms ping while playing, and this while I'm here in the Philippines. If I were back in Malaysia and on fiber internet, I bet it would be lower.

Anyone know the full details, when and how to qualify to play it ?

What is Whispers of Oblivion?
Whispers of Oblivion is a special three-mission prologue series that has been created to bridge the storyline between Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.

What can we expect from these missions?
In Whispers of Oblivion, players will join Zeratul for the first time since Wings of Liberty to unravel the final piece of the Xel’naga prophecy.

How can I play these new campaign missions?
We will be making Whispers of Oblivion available to all players before the game’s release, but prior to that, we will be providing early access to the Prologue missions with pre-purchase of the game. Look for more details sometime in July.

It's way too early for Blizzard to announce what variants there are for the LotV release, especially when they don't even know what direction they are going with the LotV beta changes/updates.

But if we take into mind the HotS variants, LotV should also have the following variants:

- standard game box
- standard digital purchase (no box, obviously)
- Digital Deluxe Edition
- Collector's Edition box

If we go by the timelines that Blizzard had with HotS, then the LotV release timeframe may look like this after the start of LotV closed beta back in 31 March:

- End of LotV Beta by 1 October
- Announcement of LotV release variants and start of pre-order by 8 October ("Whispers of Oblivion" prologue missions should be playable to those who pre-order)
- LotV release by 15 October

HOWEVER, there are a couple of reasons why I believe that LotV will NOT be released before BlizzCon 2015 on 6-7 November:

- the StarCraft community wants Blizzard to take their time with the LotV Beta so that multiplayer will be polished (I personally agree with this, even to the point of Blizzard overhauling ALL the races because there are some units that are just horribly designed)
- while all major SC2 leagues (WCS, GSL, SSL) and WCS partner events finish on or before 3 October, no way will LotV be used for the WCS Global Finals during BlizzCon 2015

With this in mind, a more realistic release for LotV should be shortly after BlizzCon 2015:

- End of LotV Beta and announcement of LotV release during BlizzCon 2015, including variants and start of pre-order
- LotV release by 14 November

A November release would also give pro-players at least a couple months to get acclimated with LotV once WCS 2016 Season 1 kicks off, which should be around January 2016.

So that's my two cents on the LotV release. Not really hyped though, but I'm sure to buy a couple of copies of LotV, just like I did in HotS, one Digital Deluxe and one standard game box.

I'm really just waiting for Overwatch.

LotV Beta Patch 2.5.3 - Best update ever: RANK PLAY NOW AVAILABLE

Download size is close to 8GB.

And I fly back to KL tomorrow!

Thank goodness for LotV Beta Ladder, I finally have great reason to move on from HotS, especially when the HotS ladder maps are terrible for HotS Zerg.

Edit: But then again, I'm just a platinum scrub, so don't take my word for it, lol

ladder in beta LOTV? seems good but i hardly can adapt the new system....start way too fast to expand and expand.
*
Yeh that's the thing with LotV. Blizz changed the economy system in such a way that it punishes you if you forget to (or do not) expand. On the other hand, action could start as early as 2nd minute of the game, so it kinda gives you a faster pace to gameplay.

It's a good change, in my opinion. However, I still feel that DH8 or DH9 is still a better economy system than the current LotV economy, in that expanding is rewarding you, as opposed to punishing you if you don't.

Ok, folks, scrap the timelines post I made above. Coz Blizz just made LotV preorder available!

https://us.battle.net/shop/en/product/starc...acy-of-the-void

Fine print found on the page:

Pre-Purchase: Expected Game Release Winter 2015/2016*
*Game is due for release before March 20, 2016.

And of course:

When you pre-purchase Legacy of the Void, you'll be granted access to exclusive Prologue missions which introduce the single-player Protoss campaign. You'll also get into the Void closed beta so you can jump into the action as soon as possible!

Enjoy, folks!

No announcement on LotV CE yet, but if we're gonna go by what Blizz did back with HotS CE, Blizz announced HotS CE a week before HotS release and pre-orders were done with retail locations, not with Blizz directly.

What I do want Blizz to do now is release a WoL digital deluxe. It pains me that my main account has WoL standard, HotS Digital Deluxe and LotV Digital Deluxe.

Okay, in plain English: You will only get the Prologue missions WHEN YOU PRE-PURCHASE LOTV.

For those who have played the beta, how was the ping in U.S server? Don't to play SEA server aka desert server.
*
It's been a long while since I played Void Beta, so I played one just to answer this question.

Ping is around 150 to 240ms. Lag spikes are frequent and make me lose focus and miss micro.

But I have to say that there are more players now compared to last month when I played my last game. I got a game on Ranked Ladder as soon as I hit "Play", unlike before when I had to wait at least 5 minutes.

LOTV PROTOSS STILL OP !!
*
Don't worry, Blizz MIGHT implement this soon:

QUOTE
Warp Gate changes
In last week’s Protoss update, we brought up some potential changes that we were looking at for Warp Gate. We tried a large number of different changes in this area, and where we are currently at is this:

Units take 2 seconds to warp-in at Pylons that have Warpgates touching their pylon power.
Buff to defensive case.

Units take 16 seconds to warp in at Pylons not “connected” to Warpgates.
Huge nerf to the offensive case.

Warp Prism power fields take 2 seconds.
Players will need to tech to Warp Prisms in order to offensive warp in well.
Due to the smaller warp-radius of the Warp Prism, players may require several to effectively warp-in offensively with their army (this is countered somewhat by the fact that the offensive warp-in case is much stronger than before).

Problem now is that Zerg is still heavy micro intense and Terren Car shooting while moving is wayyy to fuckn OP. Easy win makes a lot of car and run around kiting them till death. LOTV Favours more to terren and protoss again.

Also that protoss disintegrate is like that StarCraft terren science vessel irradiate. Easy picking from a distance.. tactic hit and run aiming to reduce heavy units like Battlecruse / thor / ultralisk.

This sucks.
*
I main Zerg, and I feel that the Siege Tank's and Immortal's ability to shoot while moving is not OP. The simple solution to that is to not allow your units to be kited and just move away so you don't take unnecessary damage. And Roaches and Hydralisks with their respective speed upgrades (and Zerglings even without the speed upgrade) can outrun an un-sieged Tank.

This is also similar to Mutalisk vs Phoenix. Phoenix can also shoot while moving, and is slightly faster than a Mutalisk. You don't just 1-A your Mutas into a group of Phoenix, that would be suicide, especially if the Phoenix have their range upgrade! What you do is to fly away and attack somewhere else, then transition to another unit/tech.

All races have some sort of micro: Even each race's macro mechanic (Zerg Queen's Injects, Protoss Chronoboost, Terran Mule drop) still takes some APM and could therefore be considered "Micro" because you have to do it frequently. Attacking intelligently is also micro because you have to properly position your units, and not just 1-A into your opponent's deathball.

If you don't like to micro, then I've got bad news for you... you've just hit your skill ceiling.

And if by "Protoss Disintegrate" you mean the Disruptor, then you should click the link I gave earlier, coz Blizz is not done with redesigning this unit:

QUOTE
Disruptor
We still agree with you that the current version in the beta is not good, because just being invulnerable for so long doesn’t have the interesting micro and the potential for cool interactions. With that in mind, we’ve actually been focusing heavily on trying out various community suggestions and also branching off our own ideas from your suggestions. We’ll have a better update for you on the Disruptor next week, since we’re not quite done playtesting the various versions and forming conclusions on this area yet.

In my opinion, Protoss has always been the "hit-and-run" race: the skills Blink, Recall, Force Fields, Timewarp, and even Stasis Ward could be used for "hit-and-run" tactics at any point in the game.

The thing with this game is that the community shouldn't cry OP every time a strategy wrecks you. There's always a solution, a counter, and most importantly, a way to play better in the next game. LOTV is still in Beta, and there will be more changes until Blizz is ready to release it. If you still feel that your voice needs to be heard, then by all means, post your gripes on the BattleNet Forums.

Update: LotV will release in 2015:

QUOTE
...during its quarterly call to investors, Activision Blizzard officially announced that the game will be launching later this year. However, no specific date was mentioned during the call.

Source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/08/04/sta...or-2015-release

This is line with my theory that LotV will release just after the WCS 2015 Global Finals in BlizzCon.

However, the LotV pre-order site still shows that it will be released before March 20, 2016.

Physical copy I mean.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
That will only be available once Blizz announces its release. Like with other publishers, Blizz only ships out the physical boxes to retailers 1 or 2 days before its release, and gives strict instructions to them (retailers) to only sell them on the date of release.

The retailers can however take pre-orders prior to release. This is the ideal scenario though.

There is a possibility that shops actually sell the boxes as soon they get a hand on them, and it's usually hush-hush.

Yes, that's true. You may be able to attach the LotV game key on your BNet account, but you won't actually get to play the game until release, because the game servers have a time trigger, only allowing you to play the game at the exact time the server allowed you to. Similar to Steam games that get preloaded--even if you change your computer time to a date after release date, the game won't launch because the Steam game server (or the publisher game server) has put a time trigger to playing the game.

I remember when Halo 4 came out on the Xbox360, and a stolen copy of the disc went around and became available on the internet, and this allowed modded consoles to play the game a full 2 weeks early. Microsoft of course banned the offending GamerTags who played early.

Pretty much that's it for Blizzard in Gamescom. Unless you're into the cosplay showcases and Blizzard Universe quizzes.
