I got a friend who just downloaded the iTunes+Quicktime's new version direct from Apple's Official Site.

After he installed the software, this is what he found:

No icons for the files. How come? The apps won't start like iTunes or Quicktime if click.

Is there any solution to make the icons be there and make the software runs smoothly?

Thanks! smile.gif

Note: He's running on Windows XP SP2, not on a MAC.

use that damn spotlight-copycat search function and locate the program execution file, then reassign to its shortcut.... I'm sure you know where the folders are.... C:\Program Files\.... if not...,

uninstall and reinstall..., if failed...

switch to Mac..., if still failed...

don't ever use a computer again.... your friend phailed everything.... tongue.gif tongue.gif

Copy paste the location file but still failed... I think his pc's got some error to remove the past Quicktime or iTunes files...

He's sad because:

1- He need iTunes to transfer songs to his iPod.
2- He needs Quicktime for some internet video streaming files like the Webcast of the Apple Event.

He can't afford a Mac, so stick with his old pc... pity him also...

ok then it is a registry error i guess. maybe try a registry fixer...but i doubt how successful it actually will be. had few of this nonsence probs in my win pc...real headache...other apps also get affected at times...life's so much better with a mac, eh.. rclxms.gif

maybe he can get a mac mini basic model and use his win screen and keyboard...nowadays there's also monthly repayment...but it depends on him le..

what your friend can do is go to my computer, open c drive, open the program files folder and search for the iTunes folder. Open the folder, and drag the application icon to the start menu. it should work. if not ask him to uninstall it and re-install it. else...not too sure...well, you never get this probos in a mac don't u...life's better with a mac...with boot camp.

aiyo...during installation have you chose another path?

right click the shortcuts and browse to the paths, and see if its there.

hmm...this is possible too. ask ur friend to dl the latest itunes 7, might as well get it since he is gonna install itunes...

remove the old itunes properly using add/remove programs in control panel and ask him to reinstall properly. should be fine i hope.

Downloaded the new one and install it, before that remove properly already..

I think the registry key had to do with this..

I tell him, to install old version 1st..and he did it..it's fine now, but in old version!
