huhu.. sega, they bring a benchmark when they brings dreamcast to the market.. a powerful console.. at that time, compared to it's rival, a playstation.. it has much much capabilities.. but dunno why still playstation dominating the market.. maybe because of the price of the console.. and maybe technologies at that time, ppl see playstation is already ok for them..
Err...u compare DC with Playstation?? That's like comparing XBOX360 with PS2.
Being next gen console, of course it was more powerful than the previous gen!!!
The DC was brought out 2 years too early as the saturn die early and they have to bring in a replacement. Unfortunately, in their haste to make fast cash, they haven't do their proper job by getting enuff 3rd party to commit to their platform. EA was just one of them. And please dun blame EA anymore. I dun think their games is that critical to the survival of a console platform (but maybe in US, crappy boring yearly re-hash of football nd basketball sells like hotcakes).
And when the PS2 comes out a year later, all was lost for the DC. Simply becoz there isn't enuff 3rd party support. And dun blame the competition for their own incompetence.
Also, their 1st party games also heck boring. Even their in-house developers couldn't bring the best out of the machine and it was actually Namco who made probably the best looking DC game in Soul Calibur, way ahead of VF3 ( a mediocre conversion at best). Seriously, Soul Calibur looks so good that even the SC2 on the XBOX doesn't looks much better than it. It was way ahead of it's time.
Yu Suzuki's Shenmue was an expensive joke and Sonic is just too old(and fugly) to save the DC.
SEGA did themselves in and nobody to blame for.
