good day sifus, I went to service my sagaFL yesterday and the dude told me for the next service I need to change the timing belt and the total cost is about rm1.5k (inclusive of oil change etc).

Is this the standard price in the proton service centre?

my sagaFL is coming to 4 years and clocked about 42K++ millage..

4 years or 80k? Have to check manual on that one.

my FL is 2011 as well. The guy at the SC quoted 1.5K timing belt change (should include the FEAD belt) inclusive of major service. He said my car is coming to 4 years and the timing belt needs to be replaced as my millage is low. just wanted to know if that is the standard SC price because i didn't get the details on what is changed during the major service...

Damn. I think I've just been conned. Asked my bro to send my car in for 80K service since I'm not in the country right now. And when I went to collect the car later and pay for the service, the total bill was 1.4K++.

Normal service + fully synthetic oil + Timing belt change + brake pads.

Yeah. It 's a major service and I asked for the brake pads as well. The receipt is not with me right now, but it's roughly fully synthetic engine oil, transmission oil, brake fluid, various nuts and bolts, air filter, timing belt stuff, brake pads.

I asked my bro because I've recently moved to another country, so I was rarely around long enough to service the car and it was already long overdue. Sigh.

IINM, the FEAD was around 300++. I'll need to double check the receipt when I get back to KL. Will post that up when i get it.
Mine is auto gearbox so no cvt oil and filter. I remember last time the estimation for 80K service was about 800 - 1K. Maybe it did not include the belt, I guess.

FEAD belt was around 300++. Brake pads was about 140++ I think. I'll post up the details next weekend when I get back to KL.

btw, u use fully syn EO + change FEAD belt + brake pad. so not get chopped liao.
you should have expected/known earlier before send in for service.

Anyways, yeah lar, 80K is supposed to be timing belt change which is why the SC changed it and I was expecting a heavy bill edi. And this was the reason why it was so hard for me to schedule as well, cause they need 1 full day to do it.

Is the FEAD same as timing belt + oil seals, etc? Or is that something entirely different which I wasn't supposed to change yet but they change it for me? That would explain the RM200 gap I'm still seeing.

Hi.. I will service my car for 60k service on this Saturday.. That proton guy suggest to change brake pad for RM200..

If I not mistaken, previously I changed company Persona brake pad only RM80 at normal service shop..

Am I being cheated?

I asked that proton guy, my car got sound everytime people go in and out.. He said normal for saga coz brake system is like that

I just want to ensure myself will not be cheated this Saturday change this and that..

Somore I think got this issue too. Maybe I need to go to CoSE since my warranty will be expired next year :

[FL/FLX]Rythmic knocking sound from rear wheels that follows vehicle speed.
The sound is from the drumbrake. So far no member who experienced this has been given an explanation as to why this occurs, except that it doesn't affect braking performance. Proceed to the nearest Proton Edar Service Center (NOT authorised SCs) or better yet, CoSE to have it replaced.

My top speed is 160km/hr and than CVT warning light menyala wooo.. So I only drive around 140km/hr.. Don't why like this..

What brand is good for brake pad? Someone quote me below price for front both side:

60-70 for fbk.
95 for metal king

Bendix GCT. Will eat disc, but not as bad as metal king. But pls no FBK tengkiu, eat disc and bad bite, very fast fade Otherwise, stick to OEM.

On the side note, I tot u work with safety awareness related job? ONLY DRIVE AROUND 140kph

Bosch Plotong OEM, soft & disc friendly. Suffice for normal use, enough for Genting downhill 1 time only.

Bendix GCT, pedal soft tapi very cengkam. Suffice for light track use, Genting downhill can go back up come down again. Disc will calar over the long run. But disc baru 150, might as well after 3-5 times tukar brake pad then change disc 1 shot

FBK..... Tak cengkam, habok manyak, disc calar. Tapi murah la
