What's the difference between buying an iPhone from the telco (Maxis, DiGi, Celcom) with a plan vs buying it from Apple affiliated stores? Besides the telco subsidized prices of course.

Warranty and other stuff the same or different? Trying to think of what are the benefits of locking in a contract plan (besides the subsidized price). Thanks.

The problem with buying from the telco (for me, anyway) is the fact that they run out of stock quickly, and even if they do have stock, they won't sell to you unless you're getting an iPhone plan with it.

And then there's the contract of 12/24 months. I had a 24 month contract for my Blackberry Bold 3. The phone died 2 months before the contract ended. My luck la, if I had cancelled the plan, I'd have to pay Celcom the cancellation penalty.
Iphone 5 had just come out then, too. Sold out everywhere in the Klang Valley, the 16GB one.

So instead of waiting, I just ordered it via the online store. DHL delivery 3 days later, at 9pm on a Friday night. Nice & easy.

After my 2 month contract expired, I cancelled my old BB plan, got a Celcom data plan. It sucked in the city, always 3G problems and just shitty internet. Mind you, I'd been using Celcom for 9+ years.

Pending already. Jumped ship to maxis. LTE was amazing. Only started nonsense speeds and crap in the last 2 months. But connectivity and call packages are what I need so I guess i'll continue on.

Apple store saves you the trouble of queuing. And if the phone has issues just take it to the service centre in Borthpoint offices, mid valley city for service.

make sure you stay online at 12.01am 6th November and wait until iPhone 6/6Plus released and buy immediately, cause the later you place order, the later you receive the iPhone.

2 years ago I bought around noon on launched day and received 2 weeks after, but those who placed order couple hours after released received in 3-4 working days.

Yeah, cause based on previous experience, Malaysia store did not began to sell on 12.01am, so based on first come first serve, you better keep refreshing every couple minutes to grab yours.
