VWRD for VTI while SUAG for bonds

For VXUS abit complicated because you have mirror using combination of VWRD and WSML to get the closest match

Thanks for reply. Would VWRA a better choice than VWRD as VWRA is accumulating etf?

It depends on you but both are interchangeable to your risk assessment for your portfolio

But to mirror VXUS is VWRD is preferable to do combination because of the distribution otherwise it will be overweighted a few years down the road with the accumulation reinvested

The majority of the largest worldwide currencies may be tracked using currency ETFs. The following are the top ten currency ETFs by assets under management (AUM) as of January 2021: Euro Currency Trust Invesco CurrencyShares® (FXE) Bullish US Dollar Index Invesco DB Fund (UUP)

No one use ETF to track Forex 🤦‍♀️ instead they go directly to the FX market

Found an article stated that 86% VWRD + 14% WSML = VT. Then no need VXUS anymore.

Yes it is about there but it can range up to 87.5% VWRD plus 12.5% WSML and it is up to your calculation for better mirroring

How you buy gold when DXY is not a traded currency in the 1st place 🤦‍♀️

DXY is only baramoter to gauge USD against a basket of about 5 to 7 major currencies while GLD, GLDM and IAU is traded in only single currency through ETF

Even if use DXY to correlate you still need to calculate the basket of currencies which is not easy 🤦‍♀️

The algo in Google finance screwed up back a few months ago and it is getting worse 🤦‍♀️

You should Bloomberg as the first choice followed by Yahoo Finance as they are more reliable than Google Finance

A question to ask:

If, say Vanguard gone busted, will all our investment in VOO gone busted as well?

In the unlikely event that Vanguard become insolvent, your money and investments would be returned to you as quickly as possible, or transferred to another provider because your money and investments are held separately from Vanguard as the ETFs you own are registered in a nominee account and held in accordance with market regulatory authorities like SEC, FCA etc

If you worried better check with your broker on whether the transfer is feasible from their end but with IBKR no issue so far on transfer

I will reply you here.
1. Open CIMB Sg account.
https://ringgitfreedom.com/banking/opening-...for-malaysians/
2. Open interactive broker account one you are able to login to CIMB SG account.
https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/home.php
3. Enable trading permission for UK market
4. Open up Sunway money account
https://sunwaymoney.com/
5. Use Sunway money to transfer RM to SGD into your CIMB Sg bank account
6. Use FAST transfer to send money to IBKR SGD bank account using CIMB sg.
7. Convert into the currency you want Interactive broker
8. Buy Ireland based S&P500 ETF off London Stock Exchange.
Why Ireland etf and not US  based etf?
Go for Ireland based etf cause you save 15% on dividend tax vs 30% if you buy US based ETF directly.
If you want to go for options down the road, go with US based ETF namely SPY.
More info kindly read this post and the ringgit freedom blog.

Avoid lifebalance steps or recommendation for ETF. Not cost effective and lousy. Use the above steps. Anything you can ask here or ask in
Interactive broker thread
Or
https://t.me/sgIBKRcommunity

Unlike him who don't want you to talk about ETF investing, I am all ears if you want to ask about EFF investing

Btw, he reported my post in the insurance part for pointing out that he's wrong and his steps are expensive and inefficient.

Hi there! Have been reading up on ETF investing and excited to start. Was wondering whether opening a CIMB account in Singapore is still the best option if I have an overseas account in Australia? My only concern is the fees involved when transferring the funds from Australia back to Malaysia in the future.

Am I right to assume that if I were to choose the CIMB SG option, the most cost effective method of transferring funds back to Malaysia is via CIMB SG-->CIMB MY?

Thank you!

I have no idea how you find your Australian account. You can fund IBKR directly using your Australian account.

To bring money back, try their fintech. They have lots of fintech there. If all else fail, use wise but make sure it's open under Australia if possible and not Malaysia cause wise is kinda of restricted by Malaysian govt laws.

Even Wise AU has restriction of AUD20k 🤦‍♀️

If the amount is huge 100k AUD don’t bother with the fees as it is better to pay while getting a peace of mind

The only thing is that declaration when you bring it back hence BNM have the right to withhold and audit before releasing the money
