QUOTE(lamely_named @ Oct 16 2007, 09:02 PM) THAT"S IT!!! I'm calling this game BIOCRASH. becoz it crashes so often it's practically unplayable. load a game, crash. Loot a corpse, crash. Open a door, crash. crash crash crash. I've updated everything I can update, cleaned everything I can clean, nothing works. the only way this is going to work is for the PATCH that 2kgames refuses to release. search 2kgames forum, 9 out of 10 thread for bioshock is about crashes, EVEN FOR XBOX360 version!!!!! it crashes and the graphic/audio/game options revert back to default, FRUSTRATION!!!!!!!! Maybe your graphics card is a little too ancient....just joking The only time my game crashed is at the start.....when I set my audio settings to Surround....after I switched back to Stereo, never crashed since....using Vista btw...

never encountered any crashes on both vista and xp, and I'm just before meeting Fontaine. Am I nearing the end of the game?

ive started encountering crashes too... when i played the first round it was fine... started playing second round it was still fine.... but after i installed the UT3 demo... thats when it all started. now i constantly have to save the game just so that i dont lose anything not sure if its coincidence or the UT3 demo is screwing up the game.

I think it may be the graphics driver. Game was kinda laggy but after i've installed and used new gfx driver the game was super smooth

Try the latest of the latest Nvidia Beta drivers... especially those on Vista (A MUST!!) Vista 32bit http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_163.75.htmlVista 64bit http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_163.75.htmlWindows XP 32bit http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_163.76.htmlWindows XP 64bit (???) http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_163.76.htmlThose Vista drivers keep improving my Vista experience... everytime a Beta driver is released, my Vista gets smoother. Halo 2 for Windows Vista at this moment has ABSOLUTELY no more stutters or strange pauses. I dual-boot, BioShock on XP 32bit and Halo 2 & Shadowrun on Vista 64bit. No problems for me.

For GeForce M users, the way to install the latest drivers is.. Lets say you have a GeForce M 7600 running on Windows XP. So you need to download GeForce 7 drivers for XP. That's right. Extract the installation files to a folder. Then you need to use Device Manager (right-click My Computer, etc. etc.) and then select Display Adapter. Right click on it, then Properties, then drivers, then update, then select it manually. You will have to choose the option where you want to tell the installer where to choose from. Then you need to click on "Have disk". Now, point to the folder drivers you just extracted. A list of GPUs will appear, select the one closest, so in this case, its GeForce 7600. Click Next and it will install. A warning will appear, just click next... and Done !! Fully updated.

So visit this website and follow the guide to updating your video drivers on your notebook. It's simple and easy, just follow the tutorial.

Thanks man, I just found the same website and did the same before I check the reply here~~ But anyway after I install the latest driver, my screen seems screw up, everytime I run something, it will turn off my aero effect, and my dekstop background color will become ver weird, I just rolled back to my previous version... (Official hp's go 7600 driver, damn hp)

It didn't crash for me after updating the graphic drivers and directx, overall this I give this game 7.5/10.
The fun part went down after I discovered that I'm only a _______ and the rest of the game was all about salvaging my ass instead of something bigger storywise.
Also, the variety and strength of the enemies never did change or scale accordingly. I also wished there were more varieties of plasmids to play with.
The ending wasn't anything big for me, what with so much build up. The last boss was a wuss, and I beat him on the first try.
Overall, it didn't live up to the massive hype.. but kudos for offering some variety to all the mindless shooters that are out there.

just installed and played this game.. Bioshock keeps crashing on me when it is loading to the Welcome to Rapture level. It happens when it starts to autosave though I can still play the game by loading other saved file (etc the fountain level). Does anyone have a working saved game file for this level I can use?

for some reason, turning off advance shader before loading a game will prevent it from crashing.
turn it back on after the game load, and play.
stupid bug.

it seems to have something to do with the hardware configuration of certain system.
some system will not crash, while some, even with 8800GTS and C2D, tons of rams, will crash all the time.
very odd.
