WHats the benefits of IPS except wided angle?
btw who the hell see the monitor from side? laugh.gif

Better contrast.. well it's all personal preference. Sometime you may lean you screen more backward or forward, so it will also affect your viewing also. not just side way

my right 2 usb ports tend to stop working after a certain percentage of battery left, and it cant even detect the usb bluetooth connector for my mouse..

driver uninstall and reinstall done..but still fail sad.gif

and solution for this?
*
You're using what power option ? Cause if not mistaken, Balanced or Power Saving option will tend to turn off the usb port if battery reach critical level. It wants to save power for the laptop so will disable other port and service. I'm not sure though, but I remember I saw this option before, try check it.

How to check for this
they emailed me that the unit is ready
so when i go for pick up what do i need to check har?

I dowan go there twice lehhh, so far
*
Check:
1. all port. including USB, HDMI, VGA, headphone and mic..
2. Screen. including dead pixel (can google for online dead pixel check), screen lit/side "hinge" see whether there is any loose part or sticking paste exposed
3. Boot your laptop, see can enter BIOS or not. If you purchased OS version then test your OS.
4. If you got an external DVD drive, bring it along to test the see whether the USB port can detect and run your DVD or not
5. Test the backlit and lightning of the laptop
6. Test power adapter

Most importantly, CHECK IF YOUR LAPTOP IS DAMAGED OR NOT. If there is any doubt, just ask them straight on the spot smile.gif

All these can be done quickly. For more detailed testing you need to have an OS installed.

My assumption is motherboard problem..only way to confirm is to take to illegear..headphone all ok

I dont think so..if bios it would have shown since i first bought it...didnt change anythung at bios also.

Now i encounter always..the right two ports permanent fail to detect
*
Hmmm.. Seems like a hardware issue. Do update us on your fix smile.gif

http://www.sysnative.com/forums/bsod-crash....html#post95053

Have been following this up for almost a month and a half. In the end, the MVP , Patrick, told me that I might get hardware failure issue.

Here's my experience. Sometimes I got black screen after BIOS , and BSOD of DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE happened.

If I'm not mistaken, I carry in this laptop at 22-Dec last year. I got my first BSOD at 1st Jan. Here's my record.

1 Jan - twice
3 Jan - once
14 Jan - once
15 Jan - twice
22 Jan - once
26 Jan - once
5 Feb- once
10 Feb - once
15 Feb - once

FYI, I'm in Penang and currently working. It's really hard for me if you asked me to carry-in the laptop to the outlet.

Somehow around 22 Jan I asked for help at Sysnative forum, enabled verifier (details please refer to the link above) , find out the culprit was RealSpeed.exe from Realtek, the WinpkFilter inside it. I uninstalled it, the BSOD issue during boot up still persisted.

Now it might be a hardware issue, but Chin stated before that if it's a hardware issue, it should be getting BSOD every few minutes.

Any suggestion what I could do now?
*
Well, I suggest you to send it back to ILLEGEAR. Use POST LAJU to ship it to them. Post Laju will be more efficient compared to GDex most of the time. Just let them test your machine out. If you're not using it for your work, try reformatting your z5 to windows 7 or other windows version. See if the problem still persist.

I personally had encountered 5 BSOD, 2 Power_State_Failure, 1 System_Service_Exception, 1 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and 1 unknown error code BSOD. I suspect it is all due to driver issue as after updating my driver most of them is solved except the latest Power_State_Failure BSOD as all driver is up to date.

Windows 8.1 is really not a good OS compared to windows 7. I'm not having any problem when I self install windows 7 on my old laptop, but win8.1 is having a lot of issue sweat.gif

Edit: Please make sure you UNINSTALL the internet booster called RealSpeed. As I mentioned it in a very early post to you. The driver is not compatible with intel AC card

I am getting power state failure all the time. drivers updated to the latest, same goes to OS. After I uninstalled the RealSpeed. exe I thought the issue should be solved but then its not.
*
Yea I know. I had read your post. I just want to point it out so next time if you're setting it up again you won't install that Driver again.
Did you try install a different OS ? I think you better ship your Z5 back to ILLEGEAR to have them test on it. That's your only choice I afraid.

Can I know again why exactly the need to uninstall realspeed?
*
Because your hardware is meant to use that driver software. Realspeed is tend to be for RealTek, not Intel AC card smile.gif
Correct me if I'm wrong

If I gotta head down to KL, I need to back on that day. So maybe early in the morning I go to the outlet , left my laptop there, evening I visit to take back. Is this okay for you?
*
Well, it is better to leave it for few days so they got sufficient time to test thoroughly. If your laptop doesn't have any important or private stuff, ask them to use your OS and check for the error also. So they can compare your OS and their OS.
I suggest you find another temporary machine to use for your work.
Maybe after sending it to them, ask them to ship it back to you after they had done analyzing and fixing your machine. I believe the return shipping fee is covered by ILLEGEAR

got a few questions regarding this z5 after reading 39 pages biggrin.gif

1 - hows the battery? is it easy to take out? coz it is bad fr battery right if overcharge

2 - it is easy to reach the fan? just to DIY cleaning the fan biggrin.gif

3 - is the USB thing happened to every user?

4 - how about the BSOD thing?

this is bcoz im not staying near to the service point and wouldnt able to send to service point when there is an error biggrin.gif

wanna think of these issues before i proceed biggrin.gif
*
1. The battery stuff is already mentioned in previous post or in one of the thread in this section, search for it

2. I personally haven't tried to open the laptop yet. But Prince J said Z5 required more tearing, it is a little more complicated.

3. So far I didn't encounter the USB issue. The only issue is sometime I can't seem to power up or detect my external hard disk/optical drive, which I assume is my wire problem. Pendrive is having no issue on it so mostly is wire problem.

4. If you're afraid of BSOD, purchase OS from them so they will set up everything necessary for you. DOS version tend to face more BSOD if you are not aware what you are installing and what you should install.

only interest with 8.1 due to windows 10 coming else i stick with 7. but since u not encounter problems i guess bsod only to certain ppl.. thanks for clarify notworthy.gif

Win 7 will also receive free Win 10 update once it is released. So if you're really not into Win 8, you can still stick to you Win 7. smile.gif

P/S: Make sure you're using genuine version of windows to have full support from Microsoft and free update to Win 10.

this i dont know.. ya will use genuine on z5.. thanks for info

Yes. It is officially stated by Microsoft. Upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 10 got nothing to do with Windows 8/8.1. I believe it will be a straight upgrade to Windows 10 without the need to go through upgrading to 8 then to 10.

Windows 7 and Windows 8 or 8.1 will be receiving free upgrade of Windows 10 on the first year when it is launched. Once you upgrade it within 1 year of its initial launch, it will be FOREVER yours.
Eg: Windows 10 released on 1st January 2015, so if you upgrade it within the period of 1st January 2015 - 31st December 2015, it will be forever licensed to you.

However, Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 8 or 8.1 Enterprise and Windows 8/8.1 RT will NOT get the free upgrade to Windows 10.

TQ bro, great to hear that your problem solved.

another question before jump in as well

is z5 UPGRADABLE? meaning in future can add in better GC,  who knows.....haaaah  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Nop. GPU and CPU is soldered. But you can add in RAM to get 16gb. There is 2 mSata SSD slot also in Z5.
Those MXM model laptop doesn't come cheap. It is quite impossible MXM laptop comes with < RM4k

can upgrade my z5 screen to 4k igzo?
*
There is no option for it in the website, but I think Prince J will probably get it done for you. PM him.
4K igzo is very expensive though, 860m can't support 4k gaming. (There is not much video in 4k resolution also, so far I didn't found one)

wanted to do a disassemble video, but i think this video already proves how easy it is to disassemble the bottom cover which gives access to all components of the z5...i got nothing more to show dy by making my own video tongue.gif

disassemble starts from 15.59 ddr3
*
Well I think our z5 have some sort of clip which holds the bottom cover. After unscrewed, the bottom cover still stick to the laptop body.
The heatpipe design in the video is also different with the one Prince J posted, so maybe different version.
Still thanks a lot biggrin.gif

Finally got my z5!. But... Seems like it cant connext to unifi... However, i have no problems connecting to other wifi... Compatibility issue?
*
That seems weird, if connecting to other WIFI is having no issue, then it mostly is not a hardware issue. What wifi card are you using ? AC ?
Well try check your router settings, see you got use any limitation settings or not. Maybe you router is set to allow only a list of IP and you didn't include your Z5 mac ip into it.

Hey guys, I noticed a pattern while getting BSOD during boot up.

If I plugged in before I open the laptop, it most probably get an BSOD ( First boot of the day).

To justify this, I tried power on z5 before I plugged in to power source. This grant me 7 days without a BSOD and still counting.

Just an experience talk, I'll try for longer period and report back.
*
You haven't send in your laptop yet ? It has been a while already. I'm amaze you still can tahan the frequent BSOD issue when using your laptop shocking.gif
