Anyone got read the review of the z5 in the lowyat.net page??

I agree and disagree on the build quality.

i agree that the top cover feels cheap and doesnt deserve that price, a aluminium cover would be much more premium and solid...also the hinge is quite bad too..as mentioned in that review the lids shakes alot and got some sound (on my unit) when opening and closing the lid..the hinge and the cover quality could be much better

But i also disagree considering the build quality OF THE WHOLE LAPTOP..trust me, a guy who handles his stuff quite clumsily..my z5 has handles numerous of torture from me (throwing it on the bed, accidentally knocking the sides, tossing the bag around when the laptop is in it, putting heavy books on it, etc etc), and the z5 didnt suffer any damage what so ever..overall, this laptop build quality is very solid and strong..imo, this build quality can only be surpassed by the alienware, but dont forget the price of the alienware..

Basically, it come to u get what u pay for..what u guys think??

You should post this reply under the review. It's bullshit review by a junior reviewer without tested the machine thoroughly.
RM4999 for a Gtx970m not worth for the price seriously? My Z5 is more sturdy than Acer and Alienware craps.

ya..i fucking angry when i read that review..gives a very bad impression of the z5..it is clearly, as u said, reviewed by a junior who dont know shit about laptops..that reviewer didnt even mention how bad is the nitro acer battery life is...

edit: this laptop cant even compare with the acer bullcrap laptop..at least compareit with the lenovo y50...

Very bias review from the way they wrote it.

Nitro compare Z5 = Nitro wins because Nitro is cheaper

Alienware compare Z5 = Alienware wins because Alienware more sturdy although Z5 cheaper

I really don't know WTF are they writing, it sounds very bias and keep on repeating the bad quality thingy which is not real. (performance good but due to quality xxx...so not worth).

you know, my impression of the Z5 isn't as good as it was, which led me on a price point basis some products were better (if you're taking the 860M version, priced at Nov-Dec 2014)


But then, seriously... What the reviewer did was just plain dumb.

I wrote a response, but I suppose that's what they want. A controversial tone so that people engage the reviewer, therefore generating more hits at the expense of a poorly done, lousily done, bad review.

After, read the article at there,it will give the impression that Z5 is not so good.

After reading the review, I do see where all the rage is coming from. That conclusion alone made me feel slightly pissed off.

"Is it worth the price? I would wager that it is not. While there is plenty of firepower under the hood, the construction doesn’t guarantee the safety of all that ordinance."

He's literally directly telling people not to buy the laptop, not because it's inherently bad but because he thinks it's not built well enough, even though too many people here could beg to differ.

You're using Windows 8 or 8.1 right ? If I'm not mistaken, there is an issue in Windows 8 or 8.1 regarding this. Try searching Google to see if there is a fix.


I think there is no point for us to be so angry. If there are less user, it doesn't matter us also. People will judge it once they actually use it for a long period of time.

The review doesn't matter to be honest, it is not from a reputation reviewer also. I will go for LINUS or similar reviewer to get a better non biased review. If people feels that Z5 is not a good machine after reading it, they just miss out one very good laptop, that's all. We didn't loss anything from it, we can actually laugh at them for missing out a good option. haha

But I do agree, when I first receive my Z5, the hinge and the material really don't impress me. It feels cheap and not solid enough. That is my first impression, but after using it for about 6 months, it is pretty good if you manage your laptop well.

P.S: The reviewer clearly doesn't know what to review about the laptop. If it is linus, he will at least mention its sub-woofer, gaming temperature, customize-ability, battery etc etc.
P.S.S: There is also one thing I agree with the reviewer, the USB port tends to have issue when I'm connecting to external HDD. It will keep disconnect and reconnect. Prince J is this normal ? I remember I had pointed it out to you when I visited you at Damansara to have my screen changed to IPS. That time I'm using an external optical drive to show you.

well F it! i like Z5, thats all it matters, and i am waiting eagerly to get it, then install steam and go back to GTA-life. Hav been missing gaming-life for 5 yrs...

If you look at this forum as a benchmark, there are a lot of associated problems with the Z5, particularly when it comes to USB and some static noise, that is.

What I think should be addressed, if the writer really want to "taruk",

can be something like

"just look into our forums and see how people complain!" (not like no complain, even I complain. LOL)


this one it says

"its not as cheap as Acer Nitro V, and not as bling bling good like Alienware..."

Is there a "MAINSTREAM" manufacturer that gives high end blinged out gaming specs with dirt cheap price (I know ada lubang kiri kanan, if you can get lubang from Clevo very nice also).. but? retailers prices can't match that, can it?

guys calm down, dont need to be so angry, Illegear wont give you prize for that, haha just kidding. you use it and you like it ,thats all it matters! but for me, you get what you paid for, and i am satisfied every penny i spent on it.
