Just got my Z5 after one month waiting and I was so damn excited until I did the screen test. Please help me identify if below are defects.

Is this consodered screen bleeding?

This is a suspicious dead pixel to me. I could not rub it away yet it is not a solid black dot. It looks like a faded black spot and it is not a square nor a circle size.
This spot can only be easily detected using light background yet it is still visible on other color background.

The biggest reason i think it is a dead pixel is tat it will disappear when i try to detect it at different angle. Dust doesnt disappear like tat right?

1st picture definitely screen bleeding, the worst one that ive seen on a laptop so far. sweat.gif

2nd picture is it a dead pixel or an actual peeled to the screen itself? Usually if faded black like that cause by high pressure/force to the screen. nod.gif

That's why I'm so skeptical...to buy MSI GE62 Apache pro or Z5. At least I did not hear much problem from MSI yet.

Their service reputation was the main reason i chose to buy this Z5. I was doing my research and was considering some other brands without knowing the existence of Illegear, but once I found out this brand and the overwhelming great feedback on the product value and CS quality, without second thought I placed my order for this RM4k beast. Never in my life I purchase such expensive stuff without actually touching it first.

However, despite of making me waiting for one month for my machine arrival which the reason is understandable and I never blame for that(shortage of 860m GPU), at this point of time I really starting to feel sien liao.

I have to say their service is awesome as I expected. But you don't need a great service if yourproduct come in perfect condition and quality. And imagine the time I'm gonna spend again for the shipping back and forth for the replacement, the shipping cost, and most importantly my eagerness to spend my time with this beast. A good quality control would have save all these troubles.

I'm kinda disappointed. shakehead.gif

I have an Asus N series laptop and have been using it for a long time. It's overheating now because of the worn out thermal compound and it's a PITA to open the whole laptop just to reapply it because unlike my other Dell one, being a typical Asus laptop, you simply can't access the CPU/GPU and heatsink easily.

Point is, you're gonna have to service your laptop anyway. It's only a matter of time. Either you do it yourself, or you bring it to some shop and let someone else do it.

EDIT: In addition to that, I heard that we can easily access the CPU/GPU on Illegear Z5 laptops just by removing the entire bottom pane, which is another plus for me. I run my machines 24/7, and without good cooling and easy means to access the heatsinks, a machine is completely worthless to me no matter the specs.

I feel sorry for you, how was your Z5 delivered? I chose Illegear because a) I desperately need a laptop with a good cooling system that is not Alienware, b) I know where their studio is located and it is not that far from my place so I can visit them anytime for any kind of Illegear laptop service provided I have time.

I feel sorry for you, how was your Z5 delivered? I chose Illegear because a) I desperately need a laptop with a good cooling system that is not Alienware, b) I know where their studio is located and it is not that far from my place so I can visit them anytime for any kind of Illegear laptop service provided I have time.

I guess you got a lemon unit ? So far, me and Arvinaaa didn't encounter any of these before. I think maybe we bought it without any promo / during "peak period" like before gst. I think they can't test the unit thoroughly one by one as the demand is too high for them. I feel sorry to you on receiving a laptop which is not what you expected.

Just contact them, they will fix it for you ASAP. I'm also from Melaka, I even carry in my laptop to their showroom at Damansara to have a screen upgrade. They did it in < 2 hours.

Actually we did inform you all before purchase that every brand has lemon unit. And also you need to consider the warranty service type and area coverage (if you choose onsite/pick up). ILLEGEAR is good in term of price spec ratio, but don't exclude the warranty service coverage area to be like other big brand as they are not as big as those brand like Dell.

Hope your problem will be solved soon. FYI, Prince J just replied that Z5 with gtx970m so far is the coolest among all ILLEGEAR laptop. 71 degree C after 1 hours of furmark test.

P/S: To others who is yet to purchase, DO NOT RUSH IT. Z5 is good, but it support up to 16gb ram only. There are only 1 HDD + 2 mSata SSD slot. Display is AHVA.

I don't know about other people, but I like to shop at Lazada and element14, and they've been using GDEx for as long as I can remember.

I can't be sure that the same happened to others but in my experience, whenever I have GDEx delivering my stuff, 9 out of 10 they'd f|u|c|k up or delay up to 3 weeks and I would be calling their hotline and even their branch office but no one would pick up. I once called their numbers every few minutes from 11AM to 4PM, about 3-5 retries each time, to no avail.

During my previous delivery by GDEx, I managed to get the contact of some guy probably from their HQ after lodging a complaint to element14 when a GDEx delivery guy came over to my place, and already being at my doorstep, only to tap lightly for multiple times on my thick wooden fireproof door like a baby innocently thinking that would attract any attention at all.

In your case, I cannot say for sure that it was GDEx who screwed up your laptop because it could be Illegear's fault, but personally if GDEx is the only delivery option, I wouldn't have bought anything that costly from Illegear.

Dear fr3eze,

Please shoot a picture with colorful background and single color (not black) background to us for identifying if it's a defect.

And FYI, IPS display has more backlit bleeding than TN display. You can google about this.

As for the dead pixel issue, please note a single dead pixel is extremely normal for LCD display.

A grade screen has 1 to 2 dead/lit pixels, A+ grade screen has 0 to 1 dead/lit pixel. ILLEGEAR only uses A+ grade screen.

I understand that every brands has lemon unit, but I think in my case it is not acceptable.

Yes I did put the order during CNY and before GST. But due to the GPU shortage matter they have to extend the delivery date for almost a month. I do not believe such an obvious defect like screen bleeding would not be easily detected under any quality control process. And I never rush them. I'm more than happy to wait a little longer if they would told me they need more time on testing or sort.

And for the warranty coverage, I can accept the fact if something gone wrong I have to send back for service. But manufacture defect is definitely not in the list. This is juz out from the box bro.
