Just to share: I applied for the Ikhwan card @ Gardens this afternoon (around 12-something) and got the call to pick up the card @ 6pm the same day.

They suggested to me to split the limit from my existing M2C, which I did.

Slight problem, all I got was the card. They've ran out of the TnC booklets/welcome packs. They asked me to check online for the card's features and detailed usage information.

I assume the touch n go card is like the Zing Card that auto-reloads and have surcharge everytime it reloads for you?
*
Yup, it's exactly that.

Totally support your idea.... my thoughts exactly. TnG suppose to "encourage" but turn out to discourage smart people like you and me.
*
That's partly because instead of doing things to encourage more people to use cashless, TnG (in their greed) imposes service charges. Imagine if they had made it same price, or slightly cheaper (RM 1 discount) than paying cash. As it stands, I refuse to use TnG for parking because their brain dead svc charge calculations left my TnG with a bullshit balance like .99 cents.

as i mentioned above, it's not tng who charges the fee, it's the 3rd party parking machine provider. but tng can support/encourage by absorbing that cost.
*
I was told that it's what TnG charges the parking operators, who would then pass the cost on to the consumer.

/offtopic though

I visited and asked about it 2 weeks back.....the officer told me that ikhwan is an Islamic card which diff with MBB2C, we need to submit 3 months payslip even though we are existing customer.

Since another member found out there is an option to convert into ikhwan, perhaps u can try that.
*
I didn't have to provide any docs when I applied @ Gardens. Passed them my current credit card and ic, filled in the form and the card was in my hand within that day itself.

QUOTE(sonnas @ Jul 23 2015, 07:10 PM)
yeah, my ikhwan card shows up in M2U. I had asked to shared/split credit limits from M2C to this card, but looks like my M2C CL is not affected. But the ikhwan card CL is only 25% of my original M2C card. Is this normal?
*
My experience is that the M2C credit limit reduction takes some time. I got my ikhwan card same day from Gardens on Monday (20th) and the M2C credit limit change only took effect today (I got an SMS from MBB stating as such).

Hey PsychoJoe, can share the sms message that indicate M2C credit limit change? Wonder how the message looks like.
I have received only ikhwan approval message.
*
RM0.00 Maybankard:We are pleased to inform that your request for (Permanent/Temporary) Decrease of Limit has been approved.Thank You

Edit: And on the previous day before that.

RM0.00 Maybank:We are pleased to inform that your application has been approved.Thank you.

I was wondering what application (Ihkwan?) - only after the 2nd sms I realised they're talking about application to decrease limit

Thanks for the information. I had received the same "RM0.00 Maybank:We are pleased to inform that your application has been approved.Thank you.", so I went online to check and saw the Ikhwan card was there. I guess I probably will receive the second message as you did. We can see the limit reduction from M2U right ?
*
Yup, can see in M2U after 2nd SMS. My Ikhwan card showed up in M2U the same day I applied.

Just received my card. It state combined credit limit 7k means wat? I have Maybank2Cards before this and the credit limit is higher. Did they just auto downgrade my limit?
*
MBB Conventional and MBB Islamic are 2 separate legal entities. So that 7K combined limit is for any cards you've got under MBB Islamic.

This applies for MBB conventional as well, any cards you've got are actually combined limit, include your M2Cs. But it will be a separate limit from that 7K.

Do maybank ask you how much CL you wanna allocate/split for the Islamic cc?
*
For mine, they did. I even asked how much do they suggest. The reply was 50-50 also, 70-30 also can .. In fact, I didn't even mention splitting the CL, they suggested that I do that right there when I applied.

HLB Essential is good for others expenses such as insurance etc. Don't think it will affect your application due to many cards.
*
Agree, HLB Essential is a good "dan lain lain" card. Too bad my application got rejected. =(

Thanks Sifu Frutie,

Browsing through the forum post, i found out that few members are saying they are cancelling m2c and converting to ikhwan. Does that means we can only choose between m2c and ikhwan but not both?
*
No, I have both. Just some people feel no point keeping m2c, or only able to apply ikhwan by converting from m2c.

I also split 30%, but on hindsight that was too much, a lot of wasted limit.

Maybank's default threshold is 1K (I think, at least it was for me) so people should definitely change it.

*
Thanks for the info, didn't know that.
