liberal thinker sounds like atheism to me hahaha... but i prefered you called me joseph prince follower lah, simpler. i do learn from joel osteen and many preacher that show same values.

when you go to church, try to go to church that you have insider contact, so you will not be alienated.

if you "shopping" for churches, it's better to pretend to be somebody. same like entering new office, keep it low profile. It's only temporary.
*
No, I don't mean it that way. Oh yeah, you like Joseph Prince, I remembered. He looks like he got botox or something.

Yeah, I am keeping a low profile, keep it cool and only talk when you are suppose to. Coz I talk a lot so I try to zip it especially in church, so many strangers.

I'm checking out who I can talk to and try to find an ally first. I need people in my team. So far none. lel.

I lost my best friend coz she's an atheist. Life moves on. So, yeah, I forgave her even though she broke my heart.

Um, yeah, when I'm in church and in cell group, I will try not to talk so much about worldly things unless they ask.

And I forgot that I got dragon tattoo on my ankle. Of course, the uncles and aunties asking me about it. doh.gif

Note to self, next Friday I will wear jeans instead.

I feel that going to church is like a job interview. Oh my, what if I say the darnest things? What if I offend somebody?

All the seniors brought theirs. Oh man! They seem to prefer NIV.

I'm not familiar with the worship songs though. Oh man! I only know Hillsong. blush.gif

One aunty remarked that the Dragon is the symbol of the Devil. She said young lady like me should not have such tattoo. Then she asked me, "How many tattoos you have?"

I told her only one. I lied. Oh God why?!!

Sometimes, It's good to know old worship songs like hymns. To have varieties.

I've come to the point, I think I know most of the contemporary Songs and many older Worship Songs.

In fact I've left the secular songs industry for many years because I find Christian contemporary music is so much better if not in par in terms of quality in sound and lyrics.

Here's are 2 examples, which I'm currently listening to.

You should have told her, you just came out and repented from triad female gangsters and see the look of expression on her face, lol.  laugh.gif

Cool! cool.gif

I should have told her I just got out of prison. But then she won't believe me coz I don't look menacing enough. lel.

So, I got this text message on Saturday morning from the CG elder telling me that tattoos are bad and evil and all that stuffs.

OK..

Then they want to suggest to meet up and discuss further with me about this issue. I said its not an issue because I'm going to get it remove. I just told them to stop judging me and leave me alone.

Then I got another text message telling me that I am not welcome for next week CG. mad.gif

That sucks! sad.gif

Kinda sad, these type of leaders lack patience. Still very much under the law of the OT.
They're not free sons and daughter but bondage again to fear like servants.

I think they are quite legalistic. shakehead.gif

Its just a stupid tattoo.

When I saw them in church yesterday, they (CG Elder) would not even smile or even greet me, it is as if I was a total stranger. The others are not so bad.

I would not let this bad experience spoil my love for God. I will still attend this church, just not the CG. hehe..

Not all Christian leaders are like that.

God looks look first at the heart of the person not at what tattoo you have. These external things matters very little.

I use to attend a smaller Church, one of my good friend, Worship leader had tattoo on upper half of his body. He's from East Malaysia.

That was because of his younger day I think he was involve in gangsters, didn't remove it but God used Him and today He's sort of like a leader of leaders of worship leader.

IMO, Whenever Christians lives a powerless Salvation life, they have nothing much but to depend on God's law as way to guide and that produces legalism.

Because If He knew Jesus, Jesus would never condemn even the ungodly.

Glad you have a higher perspective. We go to Church to meet God, not lookup to Man who has flaws.
*
Yeah, thanks for the support!

Such a pity that we have this kind of elders in church. They are supposed to set a good example for the young people to emulate.

I don't want to meet up because there's nothing to discuss actually since I'm going to get it remove. Maybe I think he don't believe me.

He's not the CG leader, he's one of the CG elder. CG leader never even condemn and say anything about my tattoo.

I still don't mind coming to the CG, but I do feel awkward since they already judged me. Maybe next Friday, I'll show them my shoulder tattoo. hahaha...That would really irritate them. JK. icon_rolleyes.gif

I see. IMO the issue could be not just about the tattoo. I might not fully understand and know in details the conversation between you and elder but I think the way you responded to that talk invitation by saying so ("stop judging me and leave me alone") is not the way it should be.   hmm.gif

Perhaps the fear make you afraid to meet the elder?
*
Maybe he thinks that I'm being rude because I rejected his invitation for discussing this issue. Coz I really don't want to talk about it anymore.

No, its not fear. I don't like people judging me anymore. How can they continuously condemned me when they don't even know me at all?

I honestly dont understand why my tattoos are a BIG deal. Even my parents were pissed off about it, but when I told them that I'm going to remove it, they realized that maybe it's not a big deal after all. laugh.gif

Yeah, I should just see him and his wife tomorrow morning since he's a retiree and he got so much free time. Plus, my work is done for this week. No new project coming up so yeah, I can relax a bit.

I wanted to confront him in church but he was not in the mood. He have this moody face all the time.

The old dude reminds me of my own parents. I called my parents "The General". We tried to follow orders and I disobeyed them all the time. hahaha.

If it's PBC or PJEFC, I'd recommend bringing it up to the pastors. If you've presented what happened accurately, I don't see any reason as to why they should've treated you like that.
Personally, I have no problems with tattoos and I don't think scripture says anything against it; it's simply a Malaysian cultural thing that found its way into Christianity. Same like drinking (although the bible forbids being drunk), when I told my friend from UK about how we Malaysians see drinking as taboo among Christians, he was surprised because in the UK, even the great theologians of old had no issue going to bars.

Smoking as well. I believe it's bad and unhealthy, but to say that God forbids it by his word requires strong scriptural proof, which I think no one offers.
Of course, it gets more complicated IF you're a leader...
*
Oh no, I dont see this issue as a big deal actually. I'm fine with it.

Yeah, I dont get the Malaysian culture over here. Even though I'm half Malaysian, I really dont understand the taboos among the Christians. You cant drink, have sex, smoke, get tattoos. etc....

Well, ok, pre marital sex is still wrong. blush.gif

As a future healthcare professional, yes smoking is terrible. But then again, so is eating a big mac. Both also shortening lifespan. One's worst than the other though.

So don't smoke; but if you have a brother who's a smoker, accept him as he is.

So today I met the CG Elder and his wife. We had a "civilized conversation". Arguments went back and forth, false allegations and accusations as well.

But in the end, cool heads prevails. All is forgotten and forgiven.

They accepted me back to the CG. Glad that issue is over.
