Guys, that's the new record for my Note4. Today i need to charged two times my phone from 15% to 100%. Each SOT is only about 2hr 5mins. After checking it, a "IndexService" become the "champion" to cause my phone charged two times and the phone w/o charging it just hot like a piece of cake which just came out from oven. I love you Samsung Note4!! This is my first time experiencing the hot Note.

I've got lots and lots of PDFs on my sdcard. The reason is to read them. Why in the blazes does Android want to index the text INSIDE the PDF ?
For those with few PDFs, could you try deleting them from your SDCard and report back?
How to delete? Tone of pdf inside my SD card....I am thinking to transfer it all to PC first. Then trasfer it back to SD card 10 by 10 something like that. This things will cause Samsung lossing tone of customers i am sure as most of them dont even know how to deal with it.
My phone is hot now... battery is also draining fast from 100% 30mins ago to now 88%......the IndexService is still rank #01 on the list.
I may just spare a fire extingusher besides my bed. I will leave it like that for overnight. If you read news tomorrow that someone got burn by Note4..... That's me.

Better you get one sd card to test. If thr card reader system of thr phone got problem instead of thr phone got problem then you need to claim warranty.
So about this IndexService.....I believe that freezing it with TiBu will solve it, therefore it *should not* be a hardware problem.
edtai if you want to try 10 PDFs at a time, do report the outcome.
I have a very large number of PDFs, about 1Gb+ on the phone.
I saw that IndexService has 7Mb of data on the SDCard, which means that it is the index file, but if it's going to continue indexing, it will probably end up being a 1Gb or 2Gb file. I won't be surprised since several years ago when 80Gb HDDs were the norm, Google indexing on the HDD produced a 2Gb index file.
Ok..i try it tomorrow. Today is full of frustration with charging so many times with the hot cake on hand.
I thought older models will usually get their updates first ? Based on the dates looks like Note4 will be first in line
They are quite concern about Note4 sale figure agaisnt i6 & i6+. This is why they put the latest and best things to Note4 first. Actually one model has so many versions meaning that they are digging holes for them. Different areas of customer just need to wait long long long before they able to get update... by the time people already start talking about next new version...
Gotta agree with the battery life being great. My iPhone 6 Plus actually lasted the entire weekend (Friday night till Sunday night - remaining <5% battery) - with FB updates, whatsapp and some browsing.
The Note 4 does have a very nice screen and the multitasking features are fantastic. But the iPhone does provide a more consistent experience from app to app. It focuses more into using the product rather than maintaining the product. E.g. in my previous Note 3 and now the 4, I find myself religiously going into App Manager to close apps and clear caches (although I'm perfectly aware there is no need to do so). Tweaking things here and there for that superb battery life/performance. But on the iPhone, its just fuss free. Well mainly because there isn't any thing you can do in that department because its closed by Apple. Which is good for the consumer. You just focus on using the product. Its that 100% usable out of box experience with no user intervention required kinda thing.
But I'm a techie person like you all. I like to have control or at least perceived to have that control. I like the feel knowing it has great specs.
You are same with my thought that this Note4 will save battery w/o much tweaking to the phone system. It is now so irritating to kill background task, rooting, greenified the phone and etc. most of the times in order to save battery. Paying 2.5k we are the one to serve this phone instead of this phone serving us. Daily use experience wise it is worst than Note3 as to concern about its battery level and worry for when and where to charge the phone.
Sorry to say that Samsung. If next update to Lorripop you dont resolve this problem, I believe this Note4 could be my last Samsung Note as I really dont want to be the slave of Note4 from time to time feeding it juice!!!!!!
Guys, i managed to stop the Indexservice by the removal of one of my folder which contains more than 2GB files. This Indexservice is not longer the champion of juice sucker. I would continue monitoring the battery performance from now. Anyway I am so jeolous with you people who are able to get 5~6 SOT....
Did that for my largest personal junk folder (no pr0n ok), and, although IndexService still runs, phone no longer gets hot because of it, and the battery drop is bearable.
Previously it would really heat up the phone.
I'll let the damned thing run its course and see what happens in the next few days.
Joytest, transfer those pdf files from your phone to pc first. Then copy small portion of them slowly back to your sd card with few hours gaps.
My method is just removed/deleted one of the folder contain many pdf file (2GB) this morning and the indexservice has stopped 2 hours after that. I can sense the battery drain is slower now. The phone is back to normal temperature since then. I will slowly put back the pdf that i have deleted.
The benifit of indexservice utimately will save your battery power once it sucessufully done indexing.
The problem with Chrome is the lag is much more apparent on the Note 4 than my 1 yr old Note 3. But now it is so damn fast maybe because of the weather. Previously the phone will lag if the weather is hot or the phone is hot. But since Batu Pahat rain a lot, the phone is so damn smooth. What is happening actually? Don't let me talk about Samsung Email app, it is so lag that sometimes it even hangs. I use it to sync my University emails.
It is not lag due to phone. It is due to slow connectivity of data.
I don't think my internet is slow. I use Celcom 4G LTE and I get 50 Mbps plus at any time.
My phone was a hot cake last two days but the smoothness is still maintained. Only the phone is still consuming battery so much. SOT 5~6 hrs is my dream at the moment. Not even talk about setting to auto brightness 0.
Battery power update: Usage is different now if compare with first week after i got the phone. I used to have about 4 ~ 4.5 hrs SOT but now I have average 7hrs with remaining battery level 15%. I have stopped doing "killing background application" and just let the phone behalf like that with brightness setting at -2 as it is too bright to for indoor use. Use it for surf web with reduction rate. More on reading comic, emailing, whatspps and reading pdf documents only.
