Valkyria Chronicles, Sega's 2008 role-playing game originally released for PlayStation 3, is coming to PC, the company confirmed today on Twitter.

In mid-October, Europe's PEGI organization re-rated Valkyria Chronicles for PC, nearly six years after the original game was rated for PS3. Sega hasn't announced details of its PC port of Valkyria Chronicles, which received critical praise (but not commercial success) when it was first released, saying more information was coming soon. Sega has brought older titles to PC over the years, including Space Channel 5 Part 2, Nights Into Dreams and Sonic Adventure.

Valkyria Chronicles is a turn-based Japanese tactical role-playing game set in the fictional region of Europa during an early World War II-like conflict. Sequels were released for PlayStation Portable in 2010 and 2011, though the third game in the series was only released in Japan.

gonna get this and replay again... with a controller. just like it was originally made for
anyway, hopefully it won't be just a crappy port like what's been too much already
and hopefully they remake the 2nd and 3rd installments

Steam?

I have the original PS3 version. Finished playing the game 4 times now. Still coming back for more. Maybe it is time I sell the PS3 version for the PC version. No need to turn on the PS3 after this

Buy and support potentially more Japanese games coming to Steam.

Show them that they missed on the market and should release more games only.

Fire Emblem always on Famicom and Nintendo. Don't think they will come but this days anything is possible.

What do you mean by 1 hour? The amount of time you actually played is it?
Games pretty damn good man. I think I finished all the sides and main story in like 50 hours or something.

Yeah, I only played an hour.

In some desert map with a lot of tank battles. The tank are quite fun, feels like Battlefield. sweat.gif

The voice acting is really cringe worthy though. doh.gif

It is, it's contains many similar tactical strategy third person mechanics from XCOM with RNG and RPG elements. If you enjoyed XCOM you would not go wrong with VC.

It looked similar but it is kinda different.

It is more like turned based third person shooter. There is no strategic level like XCOM in VC while combat uses Action Points that wasnt in XCOM too. Probably Rei7 could explain better.

VC is RPG, while XCOM is not. Presentation and story wise VC is way better for me. Gameplay wise XCOM is good and I think VC comes a bit short. People really shouldn't compare VC and XCOM, the mechanism is not the same although they looks similar in terms of class system which doesn't work the same like XCOM. I really enjoyed pretty much everything about the game. The game gives some innovation and a sense of novelty for me back then. Story wise it's great, tactical wise great too, there is also a lot of randomness and stuff, there are also some issues but I don't think it's something big which everyone could actually overcome. There are some problem I know some people can't get pass a boss and stuff. Few reason you might actually hate the game might be because you hate anime and strategy games. Besides that it's a hard to hate. I'm pretty sure most will have a good time playing this game.

That the reason why Japanese GAming industry doing so bad.

If I remembered correctly this game have perma death right? If you do not save team member if he down for the next few round, then he will die. I think my last play through I do let somebody die to get the best sniper char.

Thats good, sounds like something that I want to play.

People probably compared XCOM to VC because XCOM is the only TBS on PS3 that is kinda close to VC in some ways. Both tactical heavy games but I think they are quite different. And the ads of XCOM with all the close action cam made people thought its the western version of VC.

Hopefully I'll enjoy it.

Tactical strategy game that is inspired by X-COM where it has similar time units as that game and you always command a small squad but it has its own twist, such as you have to move and aim yourself to attack like a 3rd person shooter. If you like XCOM and anime, you'll probably enjoy this game.

Well, if the sales of VC on PC is good, why not? There are guarantee money to make if the sales is good.

From what it appears so far, VC does seemed to sell well. Its top 10 on Steam now.

This game does have dual audio if you prefer Japanese voice.
But you can only change the voice at the title screen.

Japanese voice is of course recommended.
English voice are pretty good as well, since I played this game with English voice a few years back.

I've played them all even the 3rd one, although I don't understand much of the kanji's that time.
It does spoil a bit, and since most probably haven't played it yet or finish the game yet, it's good not to spoil them.

The port is amazing. VC plays like how a PC game should be with full 1080p and 60fps support.

The only problem is, the menus can be a bit awkward to use on keyboard and mouse. The mouse sensitivity is off too with some sort of acceleration but the key mapping in general is really good.

Dont have any problems with the 720p cutscenes as the cutscenes still look good.

The tank controls are odd. I can't seemed to turn the turret. While I saw the AI did it. Still, the game is incredible so far. I really hope that they will bring Persona, Okami and Vanquish to PC with a good port.

I just need to stop treating my men as disapposable meat bags like XCOM. doh.gif

Tank is made hard to control I guess. But once you get the hang of it, maybe can pew pew pew. laugh.gif

I can see Vanquish and Okami coming out on PC.
Vanquish is really a underrated game but damn this game, best game with a good mechanism ever.
Okami no need to talk about la. Played on PS2 and even played the Okami-den on DS. Best game ever.
Persona might never come to PC though, I don't see Atlus doing it atm.

I actually have 5 Japanese games that I really want to see on PC.

Okami is one of them because of its timeless art style. It is a PS2 game that still looked amazing on PS3. Cant imagine how good will it look if you bring it PC with supersampling.

Vanquish is interesting. I cant even think of me playing it on a console with 30fps. It needs 60fps to do it justice.

Persona, I heard so much great things about it and I do want to try it. Cant be bothered to get a PS Vita as there isnt many games I want on it. 3DS is a better investment IMO.

Fire Emblem, that one is a must since i like strategy games and its bound to Nintendo platform only.

Lastly, Katamari Damancy, I played it on PS3 and I loved it. I love the art style and unique gameplay but love to play it at 1080p with 60 fps.

Shocktrooper is really good in head on with enemies shock trooper though as trying to do that with Scout will get them killed. And also great in killing Lancers

crouching unit = shock's flamethrower
standing unit = scout, you can stay at a distance and rape them
but it's kinda cheap tactic though, alicia + order can clear almost every map within 1 turn

oh btw, from my exp, both scout and trooper can kill lancer within the same cp and scout has the advantage of farther hitting distance

just finished the game, this game deserved my every single cent, 10/10 thumbup.gif
