I tried doing most of the fixes via googling.. still fail. Always ca not find drivers.. so should be drivers. But i cant get the drivers even from manufacturers website cry.gif

You need to understand some facts first.

1) All standard USB storage drives do not require installation of their own manufacturers drivers for Windows XP or higher versions.

2) If you encounter failure to install any USB storage devices in Windows XP or higher versions, this is due to the Windows's own faulty USB drivers.

Therefore you will need to uninstall any Windows updates/hotfixes that directly update the Windows USB built-in drivers.

The proofs are :

1) Those USB storage devices work on other Windows PCs immediately (ruling out device failure)
2) Those USB devices also work immediate on a fresh installed Windows PC from any official media discs or ISOs.

The Fix :

a) If the Windows built-in USB driver files are missing.

http://ckon.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/windo...ms-usbstor-inf/

b) If the Windows USB drivers are corrupted due to Windows update/hotfix

(Might need to do this in Safe Mode)
Go to "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository"
Locate usbstor.inf_amd64_????????????? folder and copy "usbstor.inf" & "usbstor.PNF" into "C:\Windows\Inf"
Copy the last file "USBSTOR.SYS" into "C:\Windows\System32\drivers"
Restart Windows.

* If you find 2 folders of "usbstor.inf_amd64_?????????" use the files in the older time stamp because this is the original working drivers.
The ones in the newest folder are the non-working version for your PC.

Sorry to ask, but have you ever try plug those item into different USB port? Try using the one on the back, directly from motherboard, not those port located at front of your desktop tower.

Another possible solution :

Symptoms:

USB shows in the device manager (right click on my computer and click manage, devices) either "Unknown USB device" or "name of USB hard drive manufacturer" both of which have the yellow ! next to them saying they aren't installed correctly.

Resolution :

Right click on the device in the device manager that shows it isn't installed, click update driver software, enter this location assuming your C drive is your main drive

"C:\Windows\winsxs" and ensure the box is checked to include subfolders and hit ok. It should reinstall immediately and show up as a new drive in "My Computer"

You may have to uninstall the device first, replug it back in and then run through the above steps.
