QUOTE(sumyt @ Oct 31 2014, 12:06 PM) 50-60C on average in gaming first of all... try clearing dust from air vents ... helps alot... While normal Facebook + YouTube I am getting 71C max (average 66C) for CPU . 45-52C for GPU . While gaming I am getting 82C Max for CPU , 81C for GPU (far cry 3) . For crysis it bumps up little bit . CPU 85-86C (Max) , GPU 83C (Max) So I am thinking is there any need of repasting . previously at idle... with high performance mode.... 55C after blowing off dust from air vents at idle ... 43C. |

QUOTE(horns @ Apr 9 2015, 11:50 AM) just swap the wifi card with a more compatible one :/ they dont expect you to game using wifi...it's silly that asus put a not-so-decent wifi card in g-series. don't they know everything counts when it comes to gaming? before i swapped mine, a low-end, older acer laptop could get faster speed than my g55. acer 150mbps, asus g55 54mbps. why? the stock atheros card in my g55 is a single-band. wow. hardline ethernet is the best for gaming... BTW... i swapped my wifi card with intel 7260 AC dual band series.. cheap investment tho |

QUOTE(horns @ Apr 9 2015, 06:34 PM) haha since when they can dictate that we will play games with wired connections only?! because everyone knows gigabit lan is way better for gaming. for other countries. most gamers game on lan..yeah intel 7260-ac is a good replacement but for asian countries... most game on wifi.. not sure why. oh BTW... i swapped most everything from my g55vw from ssd to ram to hdd to wifi card to dvd rom to msata ssd. hehe XD This post has been edited by tomastan4134: Apr 10 2015, 01:24 PM |

QUOTE(Explictz @ Jul 30 2015, 11:13 PM) Turns out i forgot to installed new driver for my trackpad hmm... i wanted to try cortana.. and yeah, win10 so far so good, i'd say its better than 8/8.1. Smooth, boot faster, and just one problem, Cortana is not available in malaysia yet.. unless u changed your region to US or any country that available for cortana.. need to change the settings later tonight |

QUOTE(evum seu @ Aug 10 2015, 10:59 AM) Need help!yesterday i test my asus g551jm on game performance,i test it with dota2 with ultra setting, intel turbo boost on. And the highest temperature hit 91°C for CPU and highest temperature for gpu is 76°C. dirty air vents broNow the question come, why the temperature difference between gpu and cpu so big? Is it normal? And the cpu reading had increased about 10°C compare to 3 month ago,is it this mean i need to repaste the thermal paste?this beast only about 4 month old only! |

QUOTE(horns @ Sep 26 2015, 05:34 PM) oh ok haha true... im still using my OCZ agility 3 on my asus g55vw ..how easy a ssd can be burnt out depends on your usage. if you confine it to common usage, not as storage, it will last more than 5 years. been using this SSD since before i got my g55vw.. already 5 years and still working top performance |

QUOTE(duck v3 @ Oct 3 2015, 01:53 AM) bought this laptop finally, from https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showuser=475679 you have to google it bro.. went for a round of dota, some animes , and 2 hours of crysis 3.\ very nice guy, extremely helpful seller. put up with my bull from start to the end haha. props to him dota 2 ran liquid smooth 60fps constant without a hitch throughout the game. crysis 3 ran averagely at about 40fps with all settings in high, resolution @1600x900 , AA is off with shadows low. Pretty impressive! the 5400rpm hitachi drive that came with the laptop is quite decent, normal R/W are averaged at around 105mb/s over 5 runs, 4k seq / random R/Ws arond 0.9mb/s. thats pretty good for an oem drive lets talk screen. the screen is well... how do i put it, it's different. probably because it's a matte panel. it looks very.. dull but at the same time, very accurate. brightness is just soso and the viewing angles are pretty good! software, the laptop comes with some asus utilities, and guess what? no bloatware! windows games / apps / zuma / whatever, they're not there! saved me time from having to remove all those crap thats pretty much it that i can say after 3 hours of usage. naturally i expect you guys to already know the build quality? the lid part is tacky rattling plastic , while the interior is still acceptable haha. oh and it's a fingerprint magnet too. but theres one thing that bothers me really badly............. the speakers are absolutely HORRIBLE. HOWEVER when you plug in your iem / oecs , prepare to be blown away. the sound quality of the onboard sound processor is almost on par with a full fledged sound card. It's extremely crisp and clear, with zero to very very insignificant distortion (at an extremely high volume where i can go deaf anytime). Heck, i dont even need an amp considering my audio gear is dj grade. Just if you guys are wondering, it's a shure srh440. the cable comes at a rating of 32ohms. but one question, does this laptop comes with a msata or a m2 slot? are they reverse compatible? thanks! or another option is to open up the entire laptop to find out . |
