Thanks all for the advice but I'm not techie lol. I admit I had bought laptop and expected it to run tip top out of the box lol.

I have absolutely no idea how to check firmware for router etc. And yes it's the stock atheros wireless card. I didn't upgrade yet. Next week only go up ssd + ram.

Anyone knows who can I call to come and check connection all?

I seemed to have found the problem but don't know what to do about it besides upgrading router or get a repwater. See, my room is first floor. WiFi is at ground floor one of the rooms. Weird thing is all my tabs, phones and even old laptop can connect and get unifi speed. But new g551 cannot? I searched online maybe to tweak the adapter or sth but no one has answer. Is it possible the adapter that comes with 551 worse than the 6-year old lappie, or just a case of updating driver etc. As for getting a repeater, anyone knows how effective that is?

Thanks

Another thing i forgot to mention, if one of the wire attach to your network card in the laptop is loose, it can happen so. Try look into that since u have access to maintenance hatch.

Hmm if that's really the case it will suck coz its brand spanking new. Maybe I'll just buy a 30m lan-cable and plug it in and forget that it even has a wireless adapter lol

The dilemma with repeater is that 1st floor of the house have no plug point at the place between my room and the ground-floor room where the router is. If i put repeater in my room, will that even work?

The router is the D-615. That's the standard router right? Is it possible to upgrade to a much better one so that wifi capabilities, and range increase?

I did notice this when I entered Windows Desktop after booting my G750, but I believe this is due to the ASUS Splendid software adjusting the colour...

Hi guys, I bought g551 last December from one of lyn member, numbertwo. Only manage to test the laptop this week. I upgraded the ram to 8gb, thats about it.
Been playing WOT using highest settings. I monitorthe temperature using hwinfo64 and gpu-z and cpu-z. Playing around 4 hours, and notice the max temp for cpu is 91C, avg is 84C.  Gpu is 83C, avg is 76C. Not sure its normal or not.
Speed wise, since im not computer geek, I think its ok (my hdd is still stock 5400 rpm).
in you guys opinion, should I upgrade ram to 16gb? How about hdd with 7200rpm? Its something that I can look forward to.
*
I also got stock g551. The laptop is awesome but upgrade HDD is a must. 5400 really bottle neck there, at least for me la. And 4gb ram really not enough nowadays. I'm going to slap another 8gb, and change to ssd.
