What do you two mean by putting msata? I guess is putting msata SSD...
Lol why so pricey.. Near my place, there're shops charging only RM20-40 for cleaning dust... RM80 for putting an SSD is too much for me

Nice choice... ya Asus build quality is generally always sturdy I must say... although my previous N55 build quality is better at screen hinge ...
I highly suggest that you do screen calibration (try the build in GL552JX ICC profile first) to make the screen much better at least based on a user claim... even though myself not do it yet because too lazy..
And this Hitachi 7200rpm HDD is crazy fast... faster than an old 7200rpm HDD and much faster than my previous Seagate 5400rpm HDD... It's so fast that I feel that I shouldnt throw an SSD into it hehe... I dunno it could be the i7 and Win 8.1 that make the 'fast' feeling...

QUOTE(zuhaili87 @ Jun 29 2015, 09:57 PM) I wud say its fast because of Windows 8.1, it would be much2 faster if u use SSD, i use SSD on my Y50, after use SSD i can never use a normal HDD again. Btw how much did u got your GL552JX for bro? Did u upgrade your RAM? Yaa because this is the first time I use Windows 8.1 (previously I hate win 8 so much )... it's so much better than win 7 SP1. Oh I got it at RM2849 when Lazada got promo code RM300 off ... it was a real bargain... I just ordered myself yesterday an almost new 4GB RAM (Hynix, identical model with the build-in one, taken out from new Dell laptop) at RM80 when I saw it at mudah.my... also a bargain because market price RM150 new...

Malaysia plug uses UK standard afaik... Maybe you need to buy universal traveller adapter because US plug not same as Malaysia...

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Jul 1 2015, 07:49 AM) They will release a refresh with new port like USB type C if its ready or Thunderbolt if its not yet available as current newer mobos trend are supporting USB 3.1 and USB type C, built-in G-Sync and so on. Yes, that's what R&D does, develop and pending for release when the time comes. Hmm USB type C... interesting... I hope Nvidia release a driver that support G-SYnc on my GTX 950M...

QUOTE(dembaba9000 @ Jul 2 2015, 09:09 AM) yeah hor. Will probably get a new plug altogether den....scared the voltage different pun. Voltage surely different.. check this site: Electrical Plug/Outlet and Voltage Information for Malaysia : Adaptelec.com, International Electrical SpecialistsQUOTE Electrical sockets (outlets) in Malaysia usually supply electricity at between 220 and 240 volts AC
North American sockets supply electricity at between 110 and 120 volts, far lower than in most of the rest of the world. Consequently, North American appliances are generally built for 110-120 volts.

Yaa that screenshot looks like there's no problem at all... QUOTE(mackiddyyi @ Jul 2 2015, 05:50 PM) does the asus rog gl551jw-ds71 coming to malaysia, or it is already available?? sry for asking.. hehe I'd say this model/config. will not come to malaysia... Why not you buy malaysia model (G551JW or G551JM) instead? It still want that us/europe model, get from ebay... but must be pricey because weak ringgit and shipping & import charge... QUOTE(Jxion @ Jul 4 2015, 08:50 PM) hi what is the difference between the G551JW-DM016H model and ASUS G551JW-DM017H model? Price = Rm500 diff RAM = G551JW-DM016H 4GB, DM017H 8GB GPU = 2GB vs. 4GB GTX 960M Probably you won't need that extra 2GB VRAM unless you plan to run sofwares that need that extra or play games at higher than FHD...

QUOTE(Jxion @ Jul 4 2015, 11:08 PM) I see.. Another question this time: is the G551JW really worth the RM400-500 price difference compared to the GL552JX? Many thanks! Personally, I'd better take G551JW-DM016H over G551JW-DM017H... Indeed that g551JW with GTX 960m worth the difference. 960m is another level above GTX 950m DDR3 in GL552JX..

QUOTE(wilsonphua @ Jul 16 2015, 09:06 PM) Thanks a lot bro! And thanks for the recommendation the other day about not to buy Acer and Lenovo, so I decide to try out my luck on Asus....as of now, the ROG feels really solid, hopefully it can last me long enough with that 2 years warranty haha, and yes, my unit box is sealed with OEM sticker lol 4GB cukup already...And I bought this laptop just to use Microsoft Office and web browsing only, i wont use it for gaming haha I bought in PC Image Sarawak branch... when you upgrade to 12GB ram, the warranty wont void ka? Surely it can last more years... just be cautious with one of the weakest part of pc = hdd... upgrade to ssd than it become more solid... Why not gaming on it.. GTX 960m is pretty solid gpu.. ya for gaming 6 or 8gb surely better... Noticeable on Csgo - no more stuttering after loading and closing it much more faster... Upgrading ram actually not just upgrading the amount, but the dual-channel mode make the rams work faster... This post has been edited by nik91: Jul 16 2015, 10:01 PM
