Erm, besides the different of CPU and GPU, is there any different between G751JT and G751JY ?
Does any Asus ROG series use 6gb variant of gtx970m or 8gb variant of gtx980m ?

but the test also show gtx 965 (msi ge62) dun have very good performance with 4k, how 960m can be better?
*
I think mobile gpu can't handle 4k. Even desktop need to sli gtx980 just can handle 4k

Because "MSI". lolll

4K is just for some games only, and remember not every GTX960, 970, 980 have the same performance. There are significant different due to manufacturer configuration, Voltage, clock speed and boost speed have been adjusted to meet the design capability.  Don't fool by MSI advertisement, That's to attract kids.

4K are a waste of money for now, you don't need it on laptop.  Save your money, for a desktop monitor. Get SLI Nvidia GTX Titan X and enjoy 200FPS+++ games.  i'm waiting the arrival now.
*
I see. But I thought the performance is more or less the same. The big different is only the heat ventilation. (We're talking about non-reference right ?) Why I said this is because I see the spec of LeadTek 970 and MSI 970, it is the same.
You're quite rich though, Titan X cost $1k USD+. Yet you want to SLI it. How much will it cost. LOL
Is there a 4k monitor available in the market already ?! with 144hz and IPS panel. I thought the current one is only capped at 48 or 60hz ?

P/S: I envy your pocket. You're so rich sad.gif

QUOTE(evum seu @ Mar 20 2015, 01:47 AM)
erm, can they change a lot since nvidia has announced this model and their basic spec? but anyway, why kind of beast you want to build with sli titan x, 24GB vram? can't imagine what can it do lo! blink.gif
*
24GB vram ? vram doesn't not stack like that right ?

In fact asus have a better cooling without sacrifice much in performance, and its silence, I really like that. NO other notebook can match in silence and cool and cool in design.

Thats why, i'm saving for 4k in future. not now of course .. loll

now only manage to own ROG SWIFT PG278Q but I connect the desktop to 4K TV running crysis 3 in full 4K graphics with GTX980 matrix platinum SLI. i get 70Fps around that.

in fact i waste too much money on Computing, 2 years invested RM20K , but that's my hobby~  hobby cant stop me wasting money, its like drug for me already.
*
I see. So there is no 4k monitor yet with 144hz in the market now right ? I think 4k still need to wait a while. The price of it is just too expensive. Maybe need 10k to get pass 70fps on every games. Some game favor Crossfire than SLI though. Eg: Watch Dogs

The Vapor R9 280X is quite good for its price though. A one year older card can fight with gtx970 is quite impressive actually.

P/S: Damn.. TechArmory just announced Titan X has landed Malaysia. RM4499 for one.. Damn expensive doh.gif

Its announced with US999 right? should not be that expensive!  doh.gif
*
You can check out TechArmory Facebook page. They just announced it. USD 999 convert to MYR include taxes is around RM4k something. So it should be correct. Facepalm man, if want SLI then already 9k, can built 3 way SLI with gtx980 already doh.gif

I just went on the net found out non user replaceable battery...true kah... haih why recent all asus laptop like this one... mad.gif
*
Because it saves space. And they want to earn more. A lot of brand is changing to use built in battery though.
They want you to buy the battery from them and ask them to assembly it for you. Replaceable battery is cheaper than Service charge + new Battery

For me, to replace the battery is easy, just unscrew, take the keyboard apart and unplug the battery then done already.
*
Some brand will void your warranty for doing so though. So you're forced to buy the service from them to replace it for you.
And not every end user is "tech" guy or have knowledge to do so. haha

Yup, but the battery should last around 4 years. For my old asus laptop, i never take the battery out but for now still can last around 3.5 hours from full charge with browsing internet and for research use..  The laptop is almost 4 years already. so i think its ok.. don't worry dude.
*
Never over-estimate the quality of consumer laptop nowadays brows.gif
The quality is better during the sweet old time XD

anyone can help this user to claim his/her laptop back, e.g. providing a better channel so that he/she can communicate further?

it's sad to know that a good product can couple with the lousiest after-sale support in this planet. an official asus service center can cause laptops submitted for repairs to be missing. can you believe that?

And I thought Asus service has just improved. I'm amaze the people still manage to keep his temper after 10 months of delay on delivering/replacing his laptop back.

right. this kind of things is really hard to swallow.

i am not sure if asus malaysia is trying to cope with things here. if they do, they are not trying hard enough.

i think most of us have been asked before about the stuff from asus that we owned. in my case it's my uncles, aunts, and relatives in the family. (mostly old folks, usually after they go windows shopping and look at asus stuff; and i happened to have some of them) i know all they do with computers is to view photos and videos of their grand children, sometimes do video calls. it's reasonably safe if they use asus laptops. however, i have this feeling that they will get into troubles later on. the reason is plain simple: we know how to fix stuff (up to certain extents), they don't. i am ready to help them out, then i realized that they already paid for the warranty service. asus boasts about 2-year warranty, which i think it's fair, and it sounded really great to old folks. somehow, i still think it's safer for them to go for other brands that can actually deliver proper warranty supports.

i have read that even other asus hardware warranty are having similar issues now.

this is indeed sad. lousy after-sale services really kill good products.
*
Yea. No matter how good is the built quality of the product, I always find that without a good after sales services, I won't consider buying it. Especially you're spending few Ks to get something.
And yet a lot people are laughing that looking at good after sales service is not necessary if they get a good machine sweat.gif

Does it really worth RM2k premium over GTX 970M? (I think they also throw in some RAM and Blu-ray but....)
*
Blu ray drive is quite expensive I think. For me it is not so worth it. 970m is okay for most of the game.

can you please share the technical specs of your beast?

for asus g-series, it's better to get the highest end gpu if possible. i believe 980m will last for quite a while. i still play bf4 with 680m sometimes. a 3-year old card, and still manage to push out over 60fps with custom settings in 64-player large maps.
*
Wow. Your processor sure is good. Maintaining 60fps during war especially 64 man map is quite something rclxms.gif

Me still using G51J, huhu. Planning to wait for pascal series GPU or AMD GPU with HBM for laptop. To all who recently got their new ROG laptops, enjoice~
*
I think need to wait quite long. Cause even though pascal or hbm is released, still need to wait for game developer to utilize it cry.gif
HBM seems a lot better than GDDR5

Ouch... the RAM and SSD+HDD spec? I remember the RAm higher while the SSD+HDD same with JT... hmm.gif
*
I think the different also is the GPU ? JT is gtx970m while JY is 980m right ?

QUOTE(Mubarak90 @ Apr 7 2015, 01:40 PM)
Well, utilization may take some time, but the technology is there and the improvement that comes with every iteration is also there, so I think even still not 100%, we can still see significant improvement from those GPUs. smile.gif
*
Yea. But problem is not sure developer is utilizing the technology in the game already or not. Since the HBM spec haven't been officially announced (AMD new GPU most likely).
I think games like Witcher 3 won't be using it ? or maybe will. haha

Yeah but other than that seems like pretty much same... and the price differs a lot, i got the JT for 5499 before GST. A bit too steep of a price to pay for an upgrade to 980m and some RAM... not sure if the CPU also upgraded? Maybe the SSD is the m.2 PCIE type instead of the normal 2.5inch type... hmm.gif
*
Maybe. But gtx980m price is different with gtx970m is quite huge. For desktop version, gtx970m cost about RM1299 while gtx980m cost about RM2k++. Well of course EXCLUDE GST
