4K is just for some games only, and remember not every GTX960, 970, 980 have the same performance. There are significant different due to manufacturer configuration, Voltage, clock speed and boost speed have been adjusted to meet the design capability.  Don't fool by MSI advertisement, That's to attract kids.

4K are a waste of money for now, you don't need it on laptop.  Save your money, for a desktop monitor. Get SLI Nvidia GTX Titan X and enjoy 200FPS+++ games.  i'm waiting the arrival now.

erm, can they change a lot since nvidia has announced this model and their basic spec? but anyway, why kind of beast you want to build with sli titan x, 24GB vram? can't imagine what can it do lo!

In fact asus have a better cooling without sacrifice much in performance, and its silence, I really like that. NO other notebook can match in silence and cool and cool in design. 

Thats why, i'm saving for 4k in future. not now of course .. loll

now only manage to own ROG SWIFT PG278Q but I connect the desktop to 4K TV running crysis 3 in full 4K graphics with GTX980 matrix platinum SLI. i get 70Fps around that.

in fact i waste too much money on Computing, 2 years invested RM20K , but that's my hobby~  hobby cant stop me wasting money, its like drug for me already.

I just went on the net found out non user replaceable battery...true kah... haih why recent all asus laptop like this one...

For me, to replace the battery is easy, just unscrew, take the keyboard apart and unplug the battery then done already.

Yup, but the battery should last around 4 years. For my old asus laptop, i never take the battery out but for now still can last around 3.5 hours from full charge with browsing internet and for research use..  The laptop is almost 4 years already. so i think its ok.. don't worry dude.

it's sad to know that a good product can couple with the lousiest after-sale support in this planet. an official asus service center can cause laptops submitted for repairs to be missing. can you believe that?

i am not sure if asus malaysia is trying to cope with things here. if they do, they are not trying hard enough.

i think most of us have been asked before about the stuff from asus that we owned. in my case it's my uncles, aunts, and relatives in the family. (mostly old folks, usually after they go windows shopping and look at asus stuff; and i happened to have some of them) i know all they do with computers is to view photos and videos of their grand children, sometimes do video calls. it's reasonably safe if they use asus laptops. however, i have this feeling that they will get into troubles later on. the reason is plain simple: we know how to fix stuff (up to certain extents), they don't. i am ready to help them out, then i realized that they already paid for the warranty service. asus boasts about 2-year warranty, which i think it's fair, and it sounded really great to old folks. somehow, i still think it's safer for them to go for other brands that can actually deliver proper warranty supports.

i have read that even other asus hardware warranty are having similar issues now.

this is indeed sad. lousy after-sale services really kill good products.

for asus g-series, it's better to get the highest end gpu if possible. i believe 980m will last for quite a while. i still play bf4 with 680m sometimes. a 3-year old card, and still manage to push out over 60fps with custom settings in 64-player large maps.

Me still using G51J, huhu. Planning to wait for pascal series GPU or AMD GPU with HBM for laptop. To all who recently got their new ROG laptops, enjoice~

Ouch... the RAM and SSD+HDD spec? I remember the RAm higher while the SSD+HDD same with JT...

Well, utilization may take some time, but the technology is there and the improvement that comes with every iteration is also there, so I think even still not 100%, we can still see significant improvement from those GPUs.

Yeah but other than that seems like pretty much same... and the price differs a lot, i got the JT for 5499 before GST. A bit too steep of a price to pay for an upgrade to 980m and some RAM... not sure if the CPU also upgraded? Maybe the SSD is the m.2 PCIE type instead of the normal 2.5inch type...
