Hi guys, I bought g551 last December from one of lyn member, numbertwo. Only manage to test the laptop this week. I upgraded the ram to 8gb, thats about it. Been playing WOT using highest settings. I monitorthe temperature using hwinfo64 and gpu-z and cpu-z. Playing around 4 hours, and notice the max temp for cpu is 91C, avg is 84C. Gpu is 83C, avg is 76C. Not sure its normal or not. Speed wise, since im not computer geek, I think its ok (my hdd is still stock 5400 rpm). in you guys opinion, should I upgrade ram to 16gb? How about hdd with 7200rpm? Its something that I can look forward to.

QUOTE(horns @ Feb 21 2015, 10:18 PM) for those who look for upgrading, i suggest upgrade to ssd first (at least as boot drive), do a fresh windows install, then ram. replacement of thermal paste is a good idea if your cpu/gpu temperature are higher than 85c under loads. note that this might void the warranty if you do it yourself. it's better to ask the service center if they can help you out. mx-4 is fine, but you can try gc-extreme for better effects (get this from apes.my). if you're not that picky, you can go for mainstream ssds like liteon ssd s900 or transcend ssd370. they are not the greatest but they are affordable, and they are much better than hdd in terms of speed. (go for at least 256gb, or more if you can afford it) if possible, keep the hdd for downloads and storage (using a hdd caddy to replace the odd slot) for ram, just stick to stock ram settings. don't bother to go for performance laptop ram. (higher clock speeds or tighter timings do not help anything in a laptop tbh) Thanks for your input, really appreciate it. Right now my cpu temp can get as high as 93 when playing wot. Thats why im looking at repasting option. Currently looking at ssd option, since I assume those are the easiest upgrade.

Hi guys, need some help here. I bought g55ijm few months ago. I use it to play wot. All were good until couple of weeks ago. I kept getting lag and its unplayable. I thought I was a network problem. Than I change to different ISP, still the same. And than I try to play from different laptop, and all is fine. It seems the problem come from the laptop itself. Anyone encounter this problem before? Also I was thinking to do clean re-installation. I have created backup drive using asus backtrack. Can anyone advice me how to proceed with it?
