anyone can give me any info on how to upgrade the HDD's of G751 to SSD's what kind of SSD's do i need ?

can i know which SSD's i can use ??
I am looking towards Samsung evo series 840 or 850 pro 2* 1TB's
*
the ideal setup for g751 is the use of 1x pcie x4 ssd, like samsung xp941. (you need a mounting for this) the rest you can put in up to 2x 1tb sata ssd. (1x in the secondary hdd bay, 1x in replacement hdd caddy for dvdrom) provided that asus doesn't use sata2 for dvdrom, you can have full sata3 for both sata ssd's.

yeah sry its been a while like around 1 years since i stopped being into computers and forgot almost everything

anyways i also emailed the asus people and they replied that they cannot ensure me that this laptop would recognize 2 1TB SSD's and work correctly with them as they've not tested it yet :?

open up the bottom cover and take a photo, simple. The component you don't see in the picture means its internal which requires further disassemble.

wow. an impressive reply from them :/

the upgrade guide is here. http://rog.asus.com/375732014/g-series-gam...-upgrade-guide/

although they have not tested it, but g751 can support 2x 1tb sata ssd. (if my g55vw can support it why the hell the newer models not?

still stock?
Could be few factors for ur unit:
1) 4GB RAM on 64 bit OS.
2) 1TB 5400RPM HDD <-- most likely this is the cause.
3) battery mode is on, you have to switch to high performance mode for optimal performance.

no bro i don't own g551. i own g55vw, a 2-year old model of g-series.

yes, i mean reformatting windows. however if you don't do that it's fine. the main thing is to put a ssd into it. i have swapped the stock hdd with ssd after a few days i bought my machine. i actually had little experience about stock specs. however i can tell you this: don't feel bad. asus g-series machines are quite capable if you give it a few simple upgrades. that's the reason i still keep my g55vw. (it's a 3630qm, 32gb ram, 2x ssd and 1x hdd)

imo 8gb ram is better also, but still not as significant as ssd upgrade. while you're at it, it's better for you to create a recovery usb stick first with the recovery image tool from asus.

Ok bro, now what i'll do is i reformat to win 7 and see its better or not.

Regarding ssd upgrade might onhold, cuz that need budget. same goes to the Ram cry.gif

and then why the screen color temperature will change automatic ? sometimes cool tone, sometimes warm tone.

ok. actually i don't think switching to w7 helps much. a fresh install might help but not much.

just upgrade the laptop according to your pace. i suggest you save for both ssd and ram. (upgrade them together)

G551 series having serious issues with the hard-drive it self, the pre-installed drive is sucks. believe me, after changed a new one, to 7200rpm, SSHD, SSD will 100% boost up the overall performance. 4GB on 64bit windows are NOT an issue But gaming is an issue for COD. For all latest PC games require 6GB of ram as minimum depends on how much background process or program you run such as antivirus will also effect the performance.

Too boost overall gaming performance, turn off wifi. so most windows background process will stop such as windows update.. etc etc..
Turn off antivirus background scan or etc.. Recommend kaspersky antivirus, best and light.

Fresh install windows and drivers. Remove bloatwares. 100% guaranteed asus A series laptop also can be as fast as light!

yeah 4gb is a problem for gaming. with 12gb of system ram, if you let the web browser (firefox) opened with a few tabs then play bf4 for an hour or so, it will exit and system reports low memory. i just encountered this once when i allocated 20gb ram as ramdisk, and forgot to revert before gaming. the system is aw18 with 780m sli :/
