GL552JX has common screen flicker issue, iinm its related to screen brightness. You should be able to google a lot of common questions posted. sweat.gif

Thinking of buying a GL552JX for graphic work but not sure if Asus has updated their panels for this unit already.

Can anyone who recently bought one locally help check what screen panel brand / model your unit is using?

Not sure, I can't tell the flicker on demo set displayed @ shop. But there's a new Dell Inspiron 7559 which offers better value for performance over Asus, that you might want to check it out.

I see, I did try a shop demo unit as well and didn't see any flicker with brightness adjusted to full and not full, but prefer if the panel is still the same samsung ips with good color accuracy, as in online reviews. Will see dell 7559 also, thanks for the suggestion

Update: I took some pics of the demo GL552JX in windows device manager, states panel as "CMN15C4", google shows it as a Chi Mei brand

still consider as recent model, but most recent would be GL552VW with Intel Skylake 6th Gen i5/i7.

if that's the case, yeah that's the price range we should pay for, if we wanna get some decent gaming experience on the road.

tbh mobility is the word that is getting more and more expensive these days.

i think it's too much because with that money you can get a god-like dekstop rig running g-sync uhd monitor with 980ti sli already.

don't have such needs yet. even my aw18 with 780m sli is still capable enough for games i play at 1080p. i use desktops for 4k gaming. to gain more fps all i need is to switch resolution to 1440p.
