looking forward to the game

although i find it slightly disheartening that alexis started to look discouraged last game, when we conceded he started to not chase the ball around, usually he chases till the last minute, it's as if he's starting to lose it.

last year we had giroud who hold up play, which allowed the creative mids ozil/ramsey/wilshere to work their shit around defenders, which was fantastic for half a season, then giroud ran out of gas, ramsey got injured and ozil lost his best partner, fixture got difficult, things just fell apart.

this year we dont have giroud, and ozil/ramsey are no longer in form. we've been forced to play a more direct game with alexis/santi shooting on sight, and out of those tso only alexis is good enough to create space and shoot on target. santi's only good in creating space. AOC and Welbeck has been pretty promising, this year's main difference with last season is the willingness of our attacking players to track back and win the ball, but once we get the ball we have no one creative enough to orchestrate an attack with it. jack's been the only effective CAM we have so far this season, and now he's crocked alexis will have to continue carrying the team for a while, and ramsey has gotta start accepting that this aint 13/14 anymore, keep shit simple, stop playing like you belong in RM/Barca. the directness has caused us to over rely on alexis, thus him carrying the team.

it's a drastically different playstyle from last year, last year we had slow creative CAMs working their way around a strong target man, while this year we have workhorses working the whole pitch. we do have the squad to get that combo of creativity + directness, problem is they're almost never healthy together for it to happen.
