Anyone up for questing? I'm normally rank 14 or 15 but stuck there due to no time to grind out Ranked play.

I bought the pre-order packs for KoFT, hopefully my card collection will improve and do more competitive decks.

Hi All Hearthstone Masters,

I am return player, I stopped HS since the earlier stage when HS release the first adventure "Curse of Naxxramas" if I not wrong. Recently I just play back HS, and wanted to check with you guy, whether should or shouldn't invest into the expansion pack or solo adventure? I am exploring whether can play HS without spending or minimal spending? So far, I am playing casual match, is still playable but sometime will faced some player have many new card which I think without buying card pack or adventure it is very difficult to get.

I am also a returning players... so far, I have not spent any money, I have consistently play the daily quest and have accumulated up to 2k gold in a short period of time. I am keeping the gold for the new expansion.... I have encounter players with power cards once a while and have also encounter players with entire deck gold... but in this game, you win and you loose, you will not always win and you will not always loose, so I am fine with playing without spending money...

wow... Frozen Thrones is overpowering... cards are all so powerful. and loving it. opening my 50+ packs ATM...

do both -- buy expansion. and get your solo adventures for free. seems that is what they are doing this time.

and i have to admit... first impression -- the new expansion seems really good.

and... first few packs, supposedly guaranteed a legendary. and for subsequent legendary you get, you're assured you won't get the same one. which is good coz last expansion... i ended up with 3 Lyra in 2 accounts. crazy unlucky.

Hi, I think it depends on how much effort/time you plan to invest in the game.

I've personally bought every expansion, every pre-pack, and I do own a lot of top tier decks. But by just having these things doesn't mean/guarantee top ranks...
it depends on how much time and effort you want to spend on the game to get to good ranks.
I have the top 5 decks in my deck list, but I usually just have time to play 1 or 2 matches a day, that leaves me around rank 12-15 most of the times.
Of course, if you have the money why not, it does help with getting all the cards in the top decks*. having analyzed the above, I've decided not to invest anymore $$$ for the pre-pack.
It doesn't matter since I don't have time to rank anyways.

* one other thing is that having a top deck doesn't mean you will win all matches, you need to watch videos, learn through experience, and still have luck to win matches.

They've also changed the logic behind opening the packs, so that should help a bit for FTP players.

This morning I opened 7 packs, some free, some brought for 100 gold... I must say luck seems to be on my side, with 4 Epics and 2 Legendries (Putricide and Thrall)...
will have to see how that meta goes, Thrall seems good with the Token Shaman for now.

So the question back to you, playing casual match, what's your target rank? that will decide if you should spend.

whats the new logic for pack opening?

like shared earlier...
1. you won't get back the same legendary.
2. first few packs (dunno if 3 or 10) for each expansion, you are assured of one legendary
3. after that... it's luck + pity timer (i think it's one every 30 packs)

and from solo adventure... i think first level, you get one free legendary death knight... or sth like that. <-- i didn't really explore yet. but read one article earlier today that said... taking all these into consideration, if you wanna increase chances of getting Death Knight, open packs first. then only do adventure.

i do wonder how Blizzard is going to top this expansion. in the past, i feel the cards weren't that powerful but this time around, seems like there are so many powerful/ insane cards. cards that... could easily change the tide.

Thanks for all your experienced sharing and opinion. I think atm I will get used to each of the class first, since at the beginning of the game I spent most of my time on mega class only.

I don't have much time to spend in game, at most 2 to 3 matches I will turn off. I think I will do casual FTP player first. Lucky frozen throne adventure is free, but freaking hard to advance.

Only bought once the welcome bundle.

I was lucky to get the mage death knight as I mostly only play mage.
My last expansion I accidentally crafted 2 golden cards T_T
So only managed to craft Lich King for this expansion.

Here's my iteration of elemental mage.

My opinion on elemental DK mage is you need two things. card draws, and board presence. early LK and DK is very crucial.
If you dont have board presence, you need board clear. and some people will go the doomsayer route.
I prefer having a good board and good amount of removal.

Cos if your doomsayer dont go off, you practically lose the control match up.

The secret package is always good, but you lose a good amount of value if it goes to fatigue unless you tech in frozen clone and snipe a good minion from the opponent.

I dislike firefly cos it loses its value and not a good ping target to summon water ele.
My deck use shimmering tempest instead of babbling book for elemental activation and better early trade. also good potion of madness bait.

Glacial shard is good anti agro + activator for cold wraith, but I dont include shatter. Fireball is always more efficient resource wise eventhough it cost more mana. Good ping target too.

Firelands portal is more stable than Blazecaller, so you have a lot more wiggle room.

Acolyte vs Arcane Intellect, AI is always more stable. But acolyte is better past turn 5.
