Either way U are winner.
If your Boss truly genuine then U got a good caring Boss which value your effort even the end result still have a lot of room for improvement.
And U need to refine and do a deep dive analysis how could U improve or at least deliver a better result next time….

On the other hand, if your boss drop a bomb to U, which is acceptable too because in the short run u lost your job, but in the long run I’m sure u will pick it up & move forward.
After all if U boss is not genuine there is no point for U to camp there…
