Hey guys, I was wondering if there are any 1/6 tailors locally? I'm doing a Terminator 1/6 custom project.

QUOTE(updatedude @ Nov 20 2018, 10:45 AM) Hi guys, I have a question I hope you can help me with. I'm not even sure if this is the right thread to ask. Probably won't be held by customs if a) the price including shipping is less than RM500 and b) box isn't too big. Even if detained, they will summon you to open it, not open themselves. If that happens just explain to them what the item is, you'd be surprised that they actually do have a sense of humor if you play your cards right.I want to buy a seamless doll that's similar to the stuff from Phicen. Which means, it's an anatomically correct figure with removable clothing. This is the first time I'm buying something like this. This is a smaller scale item that's under RM200 from HK. This figure also comes with shorts and a tank top, but I don't know if such figures are normally packed nude or with the clothing on. Is it likely kastam will withhold this item? I think as the value and size are small, it might be ignored? But let's say they decide to open, do you think it will be held for being lucah? Would articulated dolls be exempt? Although it's a seamless type. Thanks for any feedback. |

Is it me, or are people really slowing down or moving away from Hot Toys collecting in Malaysia? Nowadays there's always someone getting rid of their figures because the economy is rough, and the prices for the figures are getting out of hand.

Just look at this thread for example, all posts about new pre-orders. No one talks about the toys themselves or their collection. It's like an advertisement thread rather than a labor of passion.

Anybody who owns any of the Hot Toys T2 T-800 (MMS117, DX10, DX13) would have realized by now that their belts have crumbled to dust.

QUOTE(judge-the @ Jun 3 2019, 07:43 PM) QUOTE(MerryGoRound^2 @ Jun 3 2019, 11:24 PM) This is a little concerning... I recently bought Scarlet Witch's AoU figure from a guy. It's supposedly MIB but your talks about pleather jackets flaking's got me worrying if I made a wrong call buying the figure... Just curious, but how many of you have it displayed in an air proof casing? And how many of you have it in its box? Yeah it happens even faster if the figure is MISB. The thing about these pleather is that they all WILL break down someday. You can greatly slow down the deterioration with car care products or acrylic sealers but once the crack, there's not much you can do. My advice is to apply some car leather conditioner or other similar products and not to worry too much about it, I have tons of figures that has pleather damage (including one bought from the Judge, heh!) and a lot of them breaks down even in box. It's just the nature of the game and you can only do your best to prevent it. Tropical climate only exacerbates the situation. |

Sorry for the late reply guys, Raya! Happy holidays!
QUOTE(MerryGoRound^2 @ Jun 4 2019, 12:26 AM) This is upsetting. Wouldn't applying some sort of car care product actually leave a rancid smell on the pleather though? Not really, it would smell a bit at first, but not after it settles in the pleather. Edit: Should I take out the entire outfit from the figure as so to ensure that the pleather does not stick to the body and rot if it ever deteriorates? What figure do you plan to take off? It's unlikely that the cracking pleather would damage the figure, if there are clothes underneath you can just dip dry wash them. QUOTE(judge-the @ Jun 4 2019, 10:12 AM) The Sidshow Lara Croft, the bagpack became dust so I had to build a new backpack. Still one of my favorite figures though. QUOTE(carpathia @ Jun 8 2019, 02:13 PM) Medicom is even worse! I would all Medicom pleather to be treated immediately. Although they suck at thin pleather, their vinyl quality is pretty good though. |

QUOTE(MerryGoRound^2 @ Jun 10 2019, 05:32 PM) I bought Scarlet Witch's AoU outfit, although I haven't collected the figure since I'm not in a rush to get it. Just paid 70% of it to secure the deal basically... I should honestly feel excited to have the toy but all this talk about pleather deteriorating has got me thinking I'll keep it in the box even though it's pretty much established by everyone here that it's in the nature of pleather to deteriorate. Might consider getting a custom AoU outfit sewn when I have the extra moolah. I've spent 1.7k buying this, repainting of the face and custom outfits needs to wait for another 6 months. In tropical countries, keeping pleather figures enclosed (in a box) only accelerates deterioration. The best way I could think of is use some care care products, let it breathe and don't worry too much about it. I have tons of figures and I think a good 20% of them have pleather damage because I neglected to apply any products years ago but that's okay, to me it's part of the identity of collecting. Collecting can't be perfect, and things age. I know somewhere there will ALWAYS be someone grateful to even own a damaged, torn pleather figure because it could bring them so much joy. Plus like you said, there's always custom outfits. I've hired a few 1/6 tailors internationally before, they're not cheap but at least you know someone could replace it someday. |

QUOTE(judge-the @ Jun 11 2019, 03:22 PM) until today still regret about selling off sideshow lara croft. but you did an excellent job on the paint job! Thanks brother! I'm still updating the paintwork every year and I'm currently working on adding real hair on it. Phicen made a FANTASTIC muscular stainless steel body few years ago that's perfect for her. Since it's still a work in progress I want you to be the first to see it when it's done! There were a few more unlicensed 1/6 Lara figures made later by Ourworld but it's based off the new reboot, which I'm not a fan of. |
