Damn, this hobby died a slow and painful death, nobody talks about 1/6 figures like the old days anymore, what happened?

Inflation....used to be RM300 10 years ago.... now basic fig. is 3x more...

Yeah not a wise hobby especially too since they break and crack with time. I still collect 1/6 (started since 2004) but nowadays I only buy used figures that I find cheap, but I still love talking about them. Back then LYN was the place to talk 1/6 and it's really cool to see everyone's collection, I wonder what happened to most of the collectors, did they quit, sold their stuff or just don't talk about figures anymore.

i did quit with hottoys after the price shoot up like no tomorrow. next because of the materials cracking although we spent so much buying them

And also too many scalpers out there, sad case for late collectors

Anyway I like to ask how can I preorder from XL shop online? Do I have to pay full amount? or I only need to pay 20% like when walk in their store?

But wow... is this thread dead because high-end figures are an expensive hobby and it's MCO so people no longer want to collect? I feel for you guys. I guess I should count myself lucky for getting into the hobby late and only having eyes for certain figures.

Genuinely curious if anyone here preordered Hot Toy's latest Scarlet Witch figure based on her WandaVision appearance? Would love to learn some caretaking tips from the sifus here.

actually a lot of ppl still buy hot toys, despite the pricing jack up beyond 1k now.... just that they are on FB and not on this forum la.... you can follow XL shop and Toypanic and see when their shipment comes in for the hot toys.... lol.....

Ah! I've actually joined one of those FB groups before, but left as things got a little heated and ugly. I was quite into the international community actually, and my entry Hot Toy figure was a Civil War Scarlet Witch custom painted by a 1/6 artist. When I shared photos of the final product, I received private messages from a guy in Australia who kept pushing me to sell my figure to him. Even offered triple the price, I kept refusing him and needless to say, things got ugly :/.

Folks on FB aren't the kindest too, even within the Malaysian market. Thought it was best I kept to myself. Whatever happened to the folks here tho?

Not sure... sometimes i wonder if any of them migrated to Statue lol.... since hot toys price kept creeping up.

speaking on statue, why does people prefer statue of 1/6 scale figure?

Space la.... not everyone has a big space to display AND to keep all those boxes that comes with the statue.

Statue pricing has gone crazy lately but some brands are doing a damn good job like queen studios.

XM and prime 1 studio all these are consider good but price is way above hot toys level, hot toys already consider good entry level for 1/6 figure.

found this tered and I guess threezero not really consider high-end..lol...is hot toys the minimum entry level to be considered as high-end? anyway, just got interested on toys lately and got meself figures from threezero...i've read the posts and some people commented that the figures will crack also over time?

Actually... any 1/6 that's not specifically military based should be here...

High-end here basically means higher-end compared to Hasbro/McFarlane Toys' action figures (fixed poses with limited joint cuts)... minimum entry now is around RM400 to 500... Market/Manufacturers... for the moment seems still lively...
