How much money each adult resident in a country has on average? Since 2010, Credit Suisse, Switzerland's 2nd biggest bank, has been publishing the Global Wealth Databook on annual basis, which aims to provide the most comprehensive study of world wealth. This year in 2014, the Swiss again topped the chart as the world's richest people. Each Swiss adult has an average net wealth of US$580,686 - assets of US$729,031 minus debts of US$148,345.

Australians came second at US$430,777. For the United States, it was US$347,845. The U.S. however, is much more populous than Switzerland and Australia. America's 320 million citizens hold a total wealth of US$83.708 trillion, which represents 31.8% of world's wealth. Japan's 120 million citizens have a net wealth of US$21.404 trillion (8.8%) - the second richest nation in total wealth. China's 1.3 billion people possess a total wealth of US$21.330 trillion (8.1%), coming at third.

Despite its rising economy, the average Chinese adults remain quite poor - their average net wealth was US$21,330 - compared to Japanese (US$222,150), and South Koreans (US$95,664). Their overseas Chinese counterparts fare better in Singapore (US$289,902), Taiwan (US$182,756) and Hong Kong (US$163,706). For India it is a mere US$4,645. In the Middle East, we have long heard about the exorbitant wealth of Qatar and the UAE, but their people aren't the wealthiest. That honor goes to the Israeli, whose adults have an average net wealth of US$169,064 - compare to Kuwaiti (US$122,688), Emirati (US$121,021) and Qatari (US$156,096). For the Saudi it is only US$38,579.

Singaporeans are the wealthiest in Asia, net wealth of each adult US$289,902

Among Europe's big four economies, the presumably most hardworking Germans are, surprisingly, the poorest. Each German adult has a net wealth of US$211,049 - compare this to France US$317,292 Italy US$255,880 and the United Kingdom US$292,621. Surely you are now amazed by the French relaxing socialist and welfare system, aren't you? Crossing your legs and selling high-end products the likes of Gucci, LV, Chanel, Hermes to the world is definitely big business.

Americans are the wealthiest in the Americas, net wealth of each adult US$347,845

In Southeast Asia, the Singaporeans are the richest people, by miles. The average US$289,902 of wealth is more than 5 times that of second-place Brunei (US$50,867) and over 10 times third place Malaysia (US$26,795). The poorest in ASEAN, on the other hand, goes to the Burmese, at US$2,014.

Guess who is the wealthiest in Africa? Seychelles, at US$60,962. Seychelles doesn't have the highest GDP per capita in Africa, but it is the only nation in that continent with a very high Human Development Index (HDI) The ranking is therefore, unsurprising. In Latin America, the Chileans are the wealthiest at US$46,697.

The only regret I had was I wasn't born a Singaporean.

At least I'll be digging my fortune here and retiring in Malaysia instead.

Most poor and sick Singaporean doesnt have that luxury.

Singaporeans always see everything from money. When they talk about someone or a neighbor, they tend to see them from whether they rich or poor.

At least I'm only one hour away from these paradises. Life isn't all about money.
