Tested ApplePay via the Visa Paywave terminal at CoffeeBean KLCC just now.

Passbook added with a US based CC, NFC contactless protocol works, but when paying using CC, it failed at TouchID. Need to find more stores to test ApplePay further. There may be more updated Visa Paywave hardware terminals that supports ApplePay.

Reports showing that Visa Paywave is capable of supporting ApplePay, just that it's sporadic and only works with certain cards and certain hardware versions of the Paywave terminal. The principle is the same as using an actual Paywave card, you wave your card over the NFC contactless terminal, it records and allows payment with the card waved. An extra step in ApplePay is that it requires you to use TouchID to verify your identity and you are using the card for payment. Some hardware revisions of these Paywave terminals accept this, others dont. ApplePay is never fully supported now other than within USA, but even those are working with present hardware contactless NFC terminal such as the Visa Paywave. ApplePay does not require new terminals be installed to allow ApplePay to work, otherwise the cost and effort incurred would not be enticing for vendors to use ApplePay. It will and should work with current NFC contactless terminals such as Visa Paywave.

Only thing is, on the CoffeeBean KLCC Visa Paywave terminal, it failed at the part where I was verifying the card using TouchID. Maybe I was wavering my iPhone 6 Plus far away to maintain NFC contact, maybe the hardware isnt the same enough to allow ApplePay to go through. I'll be trying again tomorrow at ISETAN KLCC Paywave tomorrow, need to buy groceries anyway.
