First things first, download this: http://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/index.ph...less_Widescreen

It's a game changer. Like literally.
Fixes FOV (you can adjuest it to your liking), removes letter box into TRUE 16:9 aspect ratio and NOT zoomed in like through the console command. Remember, removing the letter box WILL decrease performance. So make sure you have a decent GPU if you plan to play without the black bars (which you should, it's stupid not to).

If you have a decent GPU (at least GTX770/7970/280x and above), set FPS to 60 and you'll see why this game is a golden gem in a mine.

Replaying it on the PC now after completing the nauseatic PS4 version. doh.gif rclxub.gif shakehead.gif

oh thanks for sharing man, am using the console command to fix it. Still very smooth with my 680 but will try out your method. (Because it zoomed in!  doh.gif )

Also remember to set the screen grain to 0, kinda annoying to me.

I set grain to about 40. I've always liked mild film grain.

Definitely try out FWS. This is why full time devs should be fired and these modders should be given a job.
Running 60fps locked with my 970, FOV adjusted to 85, letter box removed, aspect ratio fixed. TEW deserves to be played this way.

Trailer look freaking scary man. Damn. Creepy!

I don't think it is. Even Outlast is at least twice scarier and that game is all based on jump scares which can be easily broken once you figure out the enemy's path.

As a matter of fact, I think RE4 had a creepier atmosphere and that's saying a lot since RE4 was 30% horror and 70% action. TEW is somewhere between that.

The reviews generally show that the game is above average around 6 to 7 out of 10.

As always, review scores don't mean jack.

TEW has many flaws, but with its flaws there are hidden charms that really only survival horror fanatics from the late 90s can understand. Through and through, this is a Mikami game, from head to toe. It's like Dark Souls and Demon Souls, those games handled like crap, had so many flaws but the reason people still love it is because it's just, FUN in its own right. TEW is largely the same.

One more thing, Mikami gets pacing. Literally, he understands it. Only a very small pool of designers/directors knows how to pace a game, Mikami is one of them. Majority of developers throw everything in your face early on and the game becomes a repetitive chore after that, but not with Mikami's games.

Just wait till chapter 10 guys... that's balls to the metal awesomeness. Mikami nail'd it.
