I think McGillis' reasoning is nonsensical. I get it, he seizes the absolute symbol of Gjallarhorn, but doesn't he realize (as the story turns out) it is all just auspicious with no actual means of control? This is like a bad writing decision to his overall character who is portrayed as a cunning and determined man. Unless seizing Bael somehow technologically gives him the entire control of Gjallarhorn force, then it is acceptable.

On the other hand, I like that Mika has stayed the same, while Orga has been feeling the accountability of the accumulated deaths around him.

Well, according to Gundam traditions, we're 3 more episodes to the best episode of them all (episode 47)

We get it that it's metaphorical, but that's just it.

If I manage to sit on Agong's throne, does not mean I have gained the control of our military. It's just an anime but it should reflect the real world.
