I'm going to shoot below email to Maybank & bank negara..i feel so not protected!!

bnmtelelink@bnm.gov.my

Dear officer,

I’m writing in to complain Maybank Berhad for using my personal data illegally by issuing a credit card under my name without my consent.

This is very dangerous as my personal data with Maybank is not protected and being used to sign up for their financial product which I’m not aware of!

Chronology:
Nov 17, sms from 66628  Maybankard: We are pleased to inform that your application has been approved. Thank you
Dec 4, sms from 66628  Your Maybank card is not activated. For activation, pls SMS to 66628 the 9 digit Activation code.
Dec 5, I made a call to 1300 88 6688 (maybank careline) to enquire about these sms received. CS named XXX said it was a credit card that was “Pre-approved” by Maybank Merlimau branch (which I don’t have any transaction with them). And said might be a promotional phone call from them (which I don’t received any calls from Maybank Merlimau). And worst still the registered address for this card is somewhere in KL (which is not where I stay!!!!) This is totally unacceptable and I feel very unsafe being a Maybank customer that my personal data would be misused at ANYTIME!!!

Pls investigate further why is this happening.
If your branch is pushing hard for sales target and thus use this way to hit target, I can tell you that this is very unethical and whoever did this should be penalize immediately!

Pls bring my case to your upper management and I do not wish the same thing to happen to me or anyone else again!

This kind of thing shouldn’t happen, especially with Maybank!! What the heck!

I would suggest a police report. This could be an identity theft case.

I will report if they not able to give me a satisfaction reply..let them investigate first..shall i?

If I were you, I would call up to Maybank right after I received the very first sms.
I don't think he applied any card with Maybank.

I received too many smses from these numbers and I tend to ignore them always..put it in another word, I always read and forget..
means I wasn’t aware about the 1st SMS until yesterday when the 2nd one pop up and it caught my attention immediately!

*

How about other bank's credit card?

Updates:

Maybank called me, saying the card issued was a token of appreciation to me as a loyal customer. Maybank, what makes you think by giving a credit card to your customer is a way of appreciation?
Credit card is not a free card!!! Customer need to pay for the annual fee, the GST, & the HUGE interest if credit repayment is not made on time!
This is not a correct appreciation method!!! Are they out of their mind?

Wow, that's extremely sketchy of Maybank to be doing things like that. I assume you had some "nice" words to say to the Maybank representative who called? What's the status now? Card cancelled with apology?
*
Yes, card canceled. Apologize and said it will not happen again. I demand them to destroy the card & send me picture as proof.
