Hello there biggrin.gif
I need icon_question.gif
I am an international student and I want to do my A-levels in either KDU or Disted. They both provide the 1 year A Level course and that is what i want to do. I am ready to go through all the hard work, I really don't mind but I would please like to know your opinions on which is better; as in which one has better lecturers because that's the most important to me. I will be really thankful. And it will be a huge plus to get replies from those that have already done it and those intending to go to either of the colleges.

P.S. I am a Science student

The more well known colleges for A-levels is Sunway, Taylors and HELP if you're in the Klang Valley (Basically KL).

I came from HELP and I was pretty happy with my experience there. I have friends from Sunway and Taylors who were happy with their lecturers as well.

If I were you, I would definitely go for the more reputable ones, not dissing KDU as I have KDU friends here in my university in UK under scholarship. No comments on the Disted as I'm not from Penang.

I was planning on going for reputable colleges, Sunway was actually my first choice but I want to do the 1 year course and I also want an affordable college as well so I am only left with those 2. Thanks a lot for the reply, it helped smile.gif

I guess KDU is considering to stop 1 year Science program starting from next year. You can try to ask them wink.gif

KDU scholarship is by far the best in Penang anyway.

I'm from disted science stream and this is how feel:

Physics:
AS=very very awful subject teacher however the lab teacher was fine (there's a different lecturer for labs and theory)
A2=very very good teacher (very high praise for this dude rclxms.gif )

Maths:
it depends on which teacher you get. there are 2 if i'm not mistaken. One of them (mr. chan is really good). don't know about the other one. also, you have to either take mechanics or statistics. i heard they got a new mech teacher so i don't know how he is. students generally really like the stats teacher.

Chemistry:
there are two different teachers and both suck

Bio:
i didn't take this subject but my friends who did say the teachers are great. one guy even said "the best lecturer at disted"

F. Maths:
it's generally a very very very very tough subject. be prepared to work your ass off if you're taking it and don't depend on the teacher too much.

If you're taking 11months (1 year), I wouldn't advise on taking 4 subjects. Regardless, even with 3 subjects, you might find that you're short on time to study, do past years etc..... but i feel that it's probably still be manageable.

Thank's a bunch for your reply! All the information i needed thumbup.gif . I'll be taking Bio, Chemistry and Maths. It's a total bummer that the chemistry teachers suck but oh well I am still going to go for it. And i decided on sticking with the 18 months instead of 12. Thanks again!

did a-levels science in KDU. A few lecturers are quite strict, especially chemistry(Mr. George), statistics math and mechanics math. But strict in a good way of course. The Bio lecturer is pretty cool too, he jokes around a lot and his way of teaching is very interesting. Overall, the lecturers are quite good in whatever they are doing.

and i'm talking about the kdu in dj campus smile.gif
