Hi there, would like to ask about the management of User Accounts. When I bought the Macbook, I alr set in my Full Name and Short Name, got on using it for 2 days, then I changed the name however only managed to change the full name, the short name seems like its fixed:-

1. How to change the short name?
2. After changing the Full Name, I lost all settings on my Itunes, Entourage as all the songs in Itunes, Entourage was telling me there's no keychain to store password, then i realised even all the photos I uploaded in Pictures were missing, what happened?

Please advise, I'm very new to Mac OSX

maybe it deletes your current profile. as far as i know, the short name is just the alias to your full name. perhaps, changing the full name changed the entire profile (in this case, create a new profile).

Thanks, I've already found the answer, the only way to change the short name is via a shortnamechange app. which would cause extensive changes because it changes your user folder name, as well as any other app. needing access to it.

Got everything sorted out, didnt want to change any of the name anymore, to avoid any confusion.

I remember last time I try to rename the shrtname in finder it works, then after restart it could not boot anymore, I have to reboot from CD and repair permision to make it works
