I'm just here to ask a few questions from forumers who have general knowledge about 4x4s and the usual slew of issues that come with the damn fuel guzzling beasts.

Car: 1997 Range Rover 4x4 4.6HSE

Question 1:

WABCO accumulator brake pump whines due to rubber seals degrading, besides replacing the seals, which is a b**** and pretty fukken expensive, are there any other ways to help this problem? A quick fix is fine with me, because the whining although very rare, is annoying. And was somehow aggravated due to my old man taking the car out today.

Question 2:

Is there any real and viable way to upgrade the intake system (air) due to the fact it pretty much blows due to the age of the thing. Any brands or fixes to recommend?

Question 3:

Patching the EAS System. The EAS system is fine, it's just that it's own rubber seals are getting old and the Dunlop seals it needs are kind of hard to find, will rubber cement do?

Question 4:

Dad took car out, now i find moisture in the engine bay. WTF?!

Tried sending it to a service centre that "specializes" with Land Rovers and they over filled the transmission fluid by an absurd factor of 3 times the max, making me questions their "expertise" in the matter.

Maybe i should send it to land rover themselves but just to let you guys know, i don't have money and all i get is just basic allowance, that's why i preferred home based maintainence to anything else.

Know where i can get the service manual laugh.gif?

Daaaaamn, even the Service manual for the thing cost 400 bucks, ZOMGWTFBBQSAUCE!

But might as well do an all round replacement with my savings. What ever can be done by hand i guess shouldn't be any different than what the workshop does.

Stuff i'm planning,

- Brand new ignition cables
- New 3rd party High flow Pollen Filter
- New Powerchip ECU processor
- New Dunlop seals for the EAS
- Accumulator pump with seals
- WABCO seals rebuild kit
- Fuel and Oil filters (with new fluids)
- New Timing Belts and Chains

and it adds up to a minimum of 5k for a total repair of what i see needs cleaning up or replacement. Before i spend the money, any recommendations on quickies, because i swear everytime my old man drives the thing, it decides to die faster.

Yup. Land Rover Malaysia will send you a 5 digit bills if u try to solve it out there.....

Other option is that you try to some machenic who knows how to repair a Land Rover other than normal machenicz....

My Range Rover got once kena kaw kaw.....
I try to send my car to one of the normal 4x4 machenic coz, it's near and cheaper than Land Rover Malaysia..... When i got my car back.....
All 4 Air-Bag Suspension is like floating..... gone my "Air Pump" and "Air Harness" all gone and i send to LR Malaysia for inspection... it cost me RM 800 for inspect and report... then, they quote me 5 digit bill and ask me to acknowledge and start doin....

Luckily i manage to get a Land Rover Machenic at Selangor....
his charges is okay and he did a lot of Land Rover....
You will know when u visit his shop..... All range Rover here and there... like stock yard.....

The Machenic is near.....
1. Near University Malaya
2. Near Subang Airport
3. Near Subang 2
