Hi all,

first of all sorry if my topic had been discussed before but i already searched and not find anything.

this is my first desktop so I do not have any knowledge about this.

my purpose is for gaming such as dota 2, fifa, starcraft etc and also for photo editing such as photoshop etc.

so should i go for alienware desktop or opt for build my own? but i have zero knowledge in building own pc.

I guess i know what majority of you all gonna suggests but just want to confirm it and ease my decision.

many thanks!

Build your own, let the shop assemble it for you. Since you mentioned Alienware, the budget is much higher than building your own. This setup is more than enough for 1080p gaming and photoshop

Core i7-4790 - RM949
Asrock H97 Pro4 motherboard - RM329
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x2 - RM478
Asus GTX970 4GB DDR5 Strix - RM1399
Intel 530 120GB SSD - RM264
WD Blue 1TB hard disk - RM169
DVD writer of your choice - RM59
Antec HCG 520W power supply - RM249
Corsair Carbide 400R case - RM329
LG 23MP65H 23" IPS monitor - RM529

RM4754 total (Viewnet prices)

my budget 4-4.5k max, and one of the reason i want alienware is because of the 0% interest installment laugh.gif

i doubt the shops have this right

Yup, Viewnet is from Low Yat Plaza, KL. They don't do shipping though. You might wanna contact a user called zhen^wei or yoongkeen if you want shipping services. Cut down the CPU to Xeon E3-1231 V3 (RM799) and GPU to Zotac GTX970 4GB DDR5 (RM1199) and it will fit your budget.

I remember you need Maybank credit card for the installment I think. I doubt the Alienware spec is even close to mine.

Since that is from Cycom,i don't think that Viewnet will assemble the build for TS if TS wants the shop to assemble it for him..unless TS knows how to do it. tongue.gif Maybe change the casing to something like the Corsair Carbide 200R then with the Xeon E3-1231 V3,you cut about RM250 from the cost. wink.gif

alienware is overpriced, they are selling brand name not performance. for the same price most of the time you can get better hardware performance.

i personally think even asus rog line did better than alienware.

what alienware product you have in mind?.

Installing the graphic card is easy. Just plug it into PCIE x16, connect the power and secure the graphic card with PCI casing screw or lock.

Lowest spec for Alienware X51 is i5-4460 + GTX745 and 8GB RAM for RM3288.
http://www.dell.com/my/p/alienware-x51-r2/...059562075234147

At around the same price, you can get these for ITX build

Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM799
Asrock H97M-ITX/ac motherboard - RM349
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239
Zotac GTX970 4GB DDR5 - RM1199 (Cycom)
Seagate SV35 2TB hard disk - RM299
DVD writer of your choice - RM59
Antec HCG 520W power supply (Seasonic built/100% Japanese capacitors) - RM249
Coolermaster Elite 130 case (fits 13.5" graphic card) - RM179

RM3372 total

A bit more can get you modular power supply for better cable management. There is also better ITX cases but it will cost you more money.

As mentioned if you are considering alienware cause of EPP and delivery then take a look at ideal tech. They having offer of free shipping and already have EPP programme in place.
And with regards to the build the alien ware still uses the 7xx series card. Why spend money on something which has already a new successor which is cheaper , cooler and more powerful. Im not very sure but I don't think DELL had lowered their prices to match the price drop of the new Nvidia GPUs.

BTW the jump from performance gtx 745 to the 970 is huge!

Is size an issue for you? Bigger computer case has better ventilation and able to reduce heat buildup faster due to more space.
